RNA virus annotation pipeline (RVAP) v1.0

The code consists of two scripts that assign functional domains to RNA virus proteins. They achieve this by aggregating the outputs of multiple freely available tools and clustering the domains into high hierarchy clusters.

BOS Gas Detection Pipeline (Integrated System for Optical Hydrogen Detection Using Background Oriented Schlieren and Machine Learning) [SWR-26-007]

This software is the world's first integrated background oriented schlieren and machine learning-based leak detection system. The system provides real time visualization of gas leaks and machine learning interpenetration of leak severity. The software is supplemented by SWR-25-177, "gpu_piv (Graphics Processing Unit Accelerated Background Oriented Schlieren Algorithm", also developed by the National Laboratory of the Rockies. SEE DOECODE ID 182832.

Providing Geospatial Intelligence through a Scalable Imagery Pipeline

This chapter describes ORNL’s (Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s) contributions to imagery preprocessing for geospatial intelligence research and development (R&D) in four sections. First, we discuss challenges involved in building an effective imagery preprocessing workflow and the world-class high-performance computing (HPC) resources at ORNL available to process petabytes of imagery data. Second, we highlight how we developed imagery preprocessing tools over three decades while paving the way for our current cutting-edge machine learning and computer vision algorithms that are impacting humanitarian and disaster response efforts. Third, we discuss how PIPE modules work together to turn raw images into analysis-ready datasets. Fourth, we look toward the future and discuss planned advancements to PIPE and computing trends that will affect geospatial intelligence R&D.

Data for Impact of Non-Irrigation on 1G and 2G Bioethanol Potential of Oilcane Feedstock: A Field to Fuel Pipeline Study

This study evaluates the bioethanol potential in response to irrigation (IR) and non-irrigation (NIR) of oilcane (OC) during a seasonal drought prior harvest. The juice was extracted through mechanical pressing of stems and fermented by Ethanol Red® yeast to produce first-generation bioethanol. Hydrothermal pretreatment followed by enzymatic hydrolysis of bagasse was performed to produce monomeric sugars from structural carbohydrates. The hydrolysates were fermented with engineered yeast for second-generation bioethanol production. The irrigated oilcane juice (276.3 ± 8.9 g/L) constitutes higher sugar concentrations than non-irrigated oilcane juice (236.5 ± 2.2 g/L). The enzymatic hydrolysis of IR-OC and NIR-OC pretreated bagasse yielded similar concentrations of 247.5 ± 2.22 and 249.7 ± 4.98 g/L fermentable sugars. Industry-relevant bioethanol titers of ≥99 g/L and ≥75 g/L were achieved from juice and hydrolysates, respectively. Therefore, the non-irrigation regime did not impact the 1G and 2G bioethanol titers. However, the overall bioethanol yield can be lower due to the reduction of stem yield (8 %) per hectare.

SNEWPY: A Data Pipeline from Supernova Simulations to Neutrino Signals

Current neutrino detectors will observe hundreds to thousands of neutrinos from a Galactic supernovae, and future detectors will increase this yield by an order of magnitude or more. With such a data set comes the potential for a huge increase in our understanding of the explosions of massive stars, nuclear physics under extreme conditions, and the properties of the neutrino. However, there is currently a large gap between supernova simulations and the corresponding signals in neutrino detectors, which will make any comparison between theory and observation very difficult. SNEWPY is an open-source software package which bridges this gap. The SNEWPY code can interface with supernova simulation data to generate from the model either a time series of neutrino spectral fluences at Earth, or the total time-integrated spectral fluence. Data from several hundred simulations of core-collapse, thermonuclear, and pair-instability supernovae is included in the package. This output may then be used by an event generator such as sntools or an event rate calculator such as SNOwGLoBES. Additional routines in the SNEWPY package automate the processing of the generated data through the SNOwGLoBES software and collate its output into the observable channels of each detector. In this paper we describe the contents of the package, the physics behind SNEWPY, the organization of the code, and provide examples of how to make use of its capabilities.

Thermal Effects on Gas Pipelines

Irradiance from a nuclear weapon can be the source of heat on gas infrastructure. This exposure when sufficiently intense can result in failure. An estimation tool for this behavior is the object of this study. A lumped capacity technique is employed to estimate the system temperature rise. The temperature rise is related to three possible outcomes. Two of the outcomes are relatively certain failure and relatively certain lack of effect. A large range of exposures are assessed with the model, and a relatively small number of cases are in the uncertain range. This model is presented as a tool that can be used in conjunction with a structural assessment model to sensitivities to the overpressure and shock to screen potential outcomes from subject events .
