Dynamic Temporal Graph Sequence Data for Resilience-Oriented Distribution Network Reconfiguration

This dataset comprises temporal dynamic graph sequences generated from power grid simulations focused on grid reconfiguration to enhance resilience. The simulations model failure propagation under varying conditions, with nodes assigned distinct failure probabilities. For each time step, the dataset captures the evolution of node states (functional or failed) and features critical to grid operations, such as pv_output, load_profile, load_dispatch, dg_output, loss, and voltage. Node types include sources, normal loads, and nodes with specific equipment like PVs, micro turbines, or shunt capacitors. The dataset is structured to support the training of dynamic graph neural networks, facilitating research on node feature prediction and edge dynamics under failure scenarios. Three distinct configurations are included, providing a robust foundation for modeling power grid resilience.

Nonlinearities in Magnetic Confinement, Ionospheric Physics, and Population Explosion Leading to Profile Resilience Нелінійності в магнетному утриманні, фізиці іоносфери та процесі демографічного вибуху, які приводять до стійкості профілю

Nonlinearities play an important role in many fields. In the field of thermonuclear fusion, they are involved in questions such as profile resilience and fluid closure. A nonlinear phenomenon common to both fusion and astrophysical planets is the generation of zonal flows. These flows play a significant role in determining the level of turbulence and fluid closure in fusion. The effects of resonance broadening and nonlinearities are investigated, specifically focusing on the case of nonlinear instability that has appeared in drift waves. Similarities and differences between our systems are discussed, with population explosion and the dynamics of nonlinear systems for drift waves by different states in profile resilience described with great precision. The aim of our study is to put our fluid model for drift waves in tokamaks within the wider framework of statistical physics principles. This reinforces our belief in the broad application of our drift wave model, which encompasses current tokamaks, ITER, and the fusion pilot plant.

Soil microbiome resilience to short-term (30 days, 90 days) and long-term (1000 days) drought

This dataset contains data used for the paper "Drought duration does not impact soil microbiome resilience". The Related References will be updated with a full citation when available. Increasing global droughts exert large but poorly understood effects on the microbial communities and ecology of soil. Microbial communities generally show resilience and return to pre-drought conditions when short-term droughted soils are rewet; soils exposed to long-term drought, however, often show a lag upon rewetting, after which microbial communities may or may not return to their pre-stressed conditions. Though short-term droughts have been widely studied, long-term drought manipulation experiments remain rare, especially those that compare microbial response to short-term and long-term drought in tandem. We conducted a 1000-day drought simulation in controlled laboratory conditions with soil cores collected from a tidal freshwater ecosystem in Washington state, USA, and subsequently exposed them to rewetting for two weeks. We also included short-term (30-day and 90-day) drought and rewet treatments to directly compare microbial community and organic matter responses across drought durations. We found distinct microbial taxa belonging to Firmicutes and Actinobacteria enriched after the 1000-day drought, but not after the short-term droughts. While we hypothesized that the microbial community would recover from a short-term drought after rewetting to resemble pre-drought conditions, our results revealed community dissimilarities between rewet and pre-drought conditions across all drought durations. These findings suggest unique microbial life history strategies within certain microbial phyla that make them successful colonizers during an extended drought period, and the influence of environmental and physiological context on microbial responses to rewetting. The 16SrRNA gene amplicon dataset contains processed DNA sequences in the form of an ASV table with raw unrarefied read counts and representative sequences in .fasta format as described in the ESS-DIVE amplicon sequence reporting format (https://ess-dive.gitbook.io/amplicon-sequencing-reporting-format/instructions). The Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometry (FTICR-MS) dataset consists of processed files containing presence absence data of molecular formulae and molecular characterization of FTICR resolved peaks. The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) dataset contains files relevant to NMR spectra and peaks. A sample key file and a sample metadata file is included for the FTICR/NMR and 16S dataset respectively.

Improving Ni-Based SOFC Anode Resilience and Durability through Secondary Phase Formation

The project used a multi-disciplinary approach to test test if 2° materials, added to traditional cermet components, enhanced SOFC mechanical strength, anode resilience and durability when subjected to electrochemical and environmental redox cycling. Findings from fracture testing, electrochemical studies and operando Raman spectroscopy measurements demonstrated that aluminum titanate (Al 2 TiO 5 or ALT) mechanically mixed with NiO-YSZ cermets confers superior mechanical strength and slower degradation rates under polarization. No deleterious effects from ALT in conversion efficiency were observed. Specific accomplishments included the following: (1) Refined methods used to fabricate ALT enhanced anodes into bi-layer anode supports to achieve high power densities; (2) Compared the effects of adding ALT mechanically to Ni-YSZ powders prior to anode fabrication with adding ALT through infiltration and co-infiltration of YSZ scaffolds; (3) Tested the resilience of these novel materials to electrochemical and environmental redox cycling and thermal stresses commonly encountered in functioning SOFCs; and (4) Characterized the ability of ALT to improve the carbon tolerance of Ni-YSZ anodes operating with dry methane.

Enhancing the Operational Resilience of Advanced Reactors with Digital Twins by Recurrent Neural Networks

Because of a lack of operational data and uncertainty in evaluation model for abnormal and accident scenarios, the established operating procedures can be biased in characterizing the reactor states and ensuring operational resilience. To reduce uncertainty associated with actual plant conditions, digital twin (DT) technology is suggested to support operator’s decision-making by effectively extracting and using knowledge of the current and future plant states from the knowledge base. This study first builds a knowledge base based on the characterization of issue space and the simulation tool. Next, this study discusses diagnosis and prognosis DTs for enhancing operational resilience by recovering the complete states of reactors and by predicting the future reactor behaviors. Finally, the decision-making module of the control system can determine the optimal control strategy that meets operational goals during loss-of-flow scenarios. To demonstrate and evaluate the DTs capability for supporting the operations of nuclear reactors, this study develops and assesses both the diagnosis and prognosis DTs in a nearly autonomous management and control system for an Experimental Breeder Reactor-II simulator during different loss-of-flow scenarios.
