A description is given of the approach used in a study to identify and define engineering data for a spectrum of possible items and equipment comprising potential food systems. In addition, the material presented includes: (1) the study results containing the candidate concepts considered and technical data, performance characteristics, and sketches for each of the concepts by functional area; (2) human factors considerations for crew tasks; (3) shuttle supply interface requirements; (4) special food system study areas; and (5) recommendations and conclusions based on the study results.
Revised Skylab spacecraft, experiments, and mission planning information is presented for the Earth Resources Experiment Package (EREP) users. The major hardware elements and the medical, scientific, engineering, technology and earth resources experiments are described. Ground truth measurements and EREP data handling procedures are discussed. The mission profile, flight planning, crew activities, and aircraft support are also outlined.
Electrical/mechanical characteristics, operation, theory of operation, parts list, and electrical diagrams for the model 5208A bit synchronizer unit are provided. The unit is capable of performing the functions of bit synchronization and signal conditioning on demodulated wave trains containing amplitude, frequency, and phase distortions, as well as additive noise. Operating frequencies in the 1 to 27 MHz bit rate range are accommodated through the use of discrete frequency plug-in subunits. The unit provides 0 and 180 degree clocks and either a single signal hard decision, or a three bit quantized soft decision data output.
