Elliptically polarized waves from low frequency propagation bands produced by two identical electron streams moving across magnetic field
Formula for frequency shift of maser clock in orbit to identical maser on earth
Eliminating effects of Doppler, special relativity, and electromagnetic propagation through atmosphere when measuring frequency shifts of two identical atomic clocks
Computer program calculates spacecraft battery energy at specific times dictated by input sequence of recharge, discharge, and no activity phases. Recharge phases are assumed during times not specified, unless batteries are fully charged. Warnings are printed when energy falls below specified level. Program assumes two identical batteries.
Mechanical properties of new resin at cryogenic temperatures are substantially improved over similar composite structures utilizing conventional resins, while properties at ambient temperature are identical to conventional resin composites.
System design is based on development of standardized, interchangeable modules that minimize power dissipation, interconnecting cables and size. Maximum flexibility is achieved by using building block approach where all data modules are identical and are connected at any remote location and addressed in random fashion from central unit.
Plates with identical patterns of precisely aligned pinholes constitute lens system which, when rotated about optical axis, produces continuous high resolution image of small energy X-ray or gamma ray source. Camera has applications in radiation treatment and nuclear medicine.
Standard deviation of difference in zero crossing times of two identical sinewaves distorted by narrowband noise behaves similarly to average value of error, but deviation is approximately one order of magnitude larger.
Local radiative heat transfer and equilibrium temperature between identical uniform surface geometry planes, discussing directional dependent emittance and absorptance effects
High energy fast Grand Tour multiplanet flyby missions to outer planets omitting Jupiter, noting identical arrival date at Neptune
Single-stage MOSFET amplifier is described which is identical to standard neutralized amplifier except that neutralization provided by broadband transformer is applied to AGC gate instead of signal gate. Neutralization of drain-to-control gate capacity minimizes the phase change induced by variation in AGC.
Simulation of photosynthetic process in plants is accomplished by using two separate and identical optical channels that provide independently adjustable wavelengths (filters), shutter sequencing, and control intensity of illumination. In addition to experiments using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, system may be applicable to other types of research in photosynthetic field.
Computer program for solving attitude error equations related to gimballed platform is described. Program generates matrix elements of attitude error equations when initial matrices and trigonometric identities have been defined. Program is written for IBM 360 computer.
A summary of selected experimental results obtained on lithium-diffused bulk silicon is presented. Particular emphasis is placed on the radiation-induced degradation and thermal annealing of minority carriers in bulk silicon because solar cell output is related to the minority carrier lifetime. The temperature dependence of the minority carrier lifetime indicates the density and energy levels of the recombination centers and provides clues to their identity. Electron spin resonance and infrared absorption techniques are used to investigate the introduction and anneal of three specific radiation induced defects, which are thought to contribute to the recombination process.
Expressions for the excitation cross section of the highly excited states of the hydrogenlike atoms by fast charged particles have been derived in the dipole approximation of the semiclassical impact parameter and the Born approximations, making use of a formula for the asymptotic expansion of the oscillator strength of the hydrogenlike atoms given by Menzel. When only the leading term in the asymptotic expansion is retained, the expression for the cross section becomes identical to the expression obtained by the method of the classical collision and correspondence principle given by Percival and Richards. Comparisons are made between the Bethe coefficients obtained here and the Bethe coefficients of the Born approximation for transitions where the Born calculation is available. Satisfactory agreement is obtained only for n yields n + 1 transitions, with n the principal quantum number of the excited state.
XB-70-1 mass, structural, and aerodynamic data were updated to reflect as closely as possible the characteristics of the airplane at three specific flight conditions which were actually flown; a nominal Mach number of 0.90 at an altitude of 25,000 feet (two cases) and a nominal Mach number of 1.6 at an altitude of 40,000 feet (one case). In-flight response characteristics at a number of points on the vehicle were obtained by exciting a pair of shaker vanes on the nose of the airplane. Data were recorded with the basic stability augmentation system (SAS) operating both alone and together with the identical location of accelerometer and force (ILAF) structural mode control system. Detailed total vehicle weight, mass characteristics, structural frequencies, generalized masses, all aerodynamic data used in the present analyses, and a description of the actual mode shapes are tabulated and presented.
A theory is described for predicting sonic boom pressure signatures emitted by nonlifting rectangular wings. Comparisons are made with previous (Whitham) theory and with experimentally determined near field signatures. Although both theories agree with experiment for low aspect ratio wings, Whitman's theory seriously overpredicts signature length for high aspect ratio wings. No experiments were conducted in the far field, but the two theories predict nearly identical results in this region.
The fast response solar array simulator (FRSAS) is a universal solar array simulator which features an AC response identical to that of a real array over a large range of DC operating points. In addition, short circuit current (I sub sc) and open circuit voltage (V sub oc) are digitally programmable over a wide range for use not only in simulating a wide range of array sizes, but also to simulate (I sub sc) and (V sub oc) variations with illumination and temperature. A means for simulation of current variations due to spinning is available. Provisions for remote control and monitoring, automatic failure sensing and warning, and a load simulator are also included.
