Electron-induced luminescence and x-ray spectrometer (ELXS) system for life

The search for signatures of life/water on planetary bodies, like most planetary exploration, proceeds on a series of reducing scales from global to a few centimeters. Although planetary observing satellites can look at the big picture, it will be up to small roving vehicles carrying carefully slected instrument packages to probe the planet surface.

The Use of Photo-Luminescence as an Emergency Egress Guidance System on ISS

Because ever increasing performance, photoluminescence has moved from “glow in the dark” toys to greatly expanded use in offices, factories, homes and many other places where it can be charged regularly by light and seen clearly and effectively in the dark for extended periods of time.

Method to synthesize metal halide perovskite particles with high luminescence and stability

The invention provides a convenient solution-based synthesis for metal halide perovskite particles. This method requires only mild conditions and can be easily scaled up. A ligand of a proper molecule size and an optimized precursor ratio are important to obtain pure phase particles. As an example, lead bromide perovskite particles exhibited a narrow monochromatic band gap, which can be tuned by partial halide substitution, and PLQY up to 75% making this material an excellent candidate for light emission and display applications.

Luminescence based fiber optic probe for the detection of rare earth elements

The disclosure relates to an apparatus, method and process for detecting rare earth elements. The system includes an LED powered by a first power source and a focusing lens in optical communication with the LED. A shortpass filter is in optical communication with the focusing lens; and a fiber bifurcated cable in optical communication with the shortpass filter. The system includes a probe tip in optical communication with the fiber bifurcated cable and a sample; a first aspheric lens in optical communication with the fiber bifurcated cable. A longpass filter is in optical communication with the first aspheric lens and a second aspheric lens in optical communication with the longpass filter. The system includes a spectrometer connected to a power source, where the spectrometer is in optical communication with the second aspheric lens.
