Annual SDRD Report including project summaries for FY 2024.
This is the FY-24 LDRD annual report. The 62 projects concluded in fiscal year 2024, highlighted in this report, represent a glimpse into the extraordinary breadth and depth of leading-edge science, technology, and engineering endeavors ongoing at INL. I invite you to explore this report thoroughly, discovering first-hand how INL's LDRD portfolio not only fosters innovation but also nurtures researcher talent, propelling us closer to realizing our vision of transforming the world's energy future and safeguarding our critical infrastructure.
Energy I-Corps is an initiative of the Department of Energy's Office of Technology Commercialization. The focus of this 2-month program is to train National Laboratory researchers in evaluating industry needs and potential market applications for their DOE technologies. This year's annual report details the accomplishments, activities, and finances of Energy I-Corps' 2025 fiscal year programming.
Fiscal year 2025 annual report for the Nevada National Security Sites' Site-Directed Research and Development (SDRD) Program. Contains an overview of the SDRD program's accomplishments for FY 2025 and individual project summaries.
This presentations summarizes the international collaboration work that is occurring in the Advanced Reactor Technologies - Gas-Cooled Reactor (ART-GCR) program. It is part of the 2025 ART-GCR annual review meeting.

The Durable Module Materials Consortium's overarching goal is to understand photovoltaic (PV) module degradation and enable high-energy-yield modules with a 50-year lifespan. One of DuraMAT's milestones this year was to identify cases where the whole of DuraMAT really mattered and made an impact that was greater than the sum of the project results. We identified five key results that demonstrate progress toward enabling 50-year modules for a resilient PV industry: 1) Resilient PV Systems; 2) Proactive Materials Screening; 3) Understanding Wear-Out; 4) Identifying Which Cracks Matter; and 5) Software Tools and Data Resources This annual report summarizes these key results, as well as reviewing our other ongoing work in fiscal year 2024.

On 11 August 1995, President Clinton announced that the United States intended to enter negotiations on the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. To address concerns that the cessation of nuclear testing would introduce uncertainty about the efficacy of the U.S. nuclear deterrent, he also announced the concurrent establishment of six Safeguards as conditions of entry. Safeguard A prescribed “. . . a Science Based Stockpile Stewardship program to ensure a high level of confidence in the safety and reliability of nuclear weapons in the active stockpile.” Safeguard B required “The maintenance of modern nuclear laboratory facilities and programs in theoretical and exploratory nuclear technology which will attract, retain, and ensure . . . human scientific resources.” These two Safeguards led to the establishment of the physical and intellectual capabilities to sustain the Nation’s nuclear deterrent without nuclear testing.
The report, prepared for the U.S. Department of Energy West Valley Demonstration Project office (DOE-WVDP), summarizes the environmental protection program at the WVDP for calendar year (CY) 2021. Monitoring and surveillance of the facilities used by the DOE are conducted to verify protection of public health and safety and the environment. The report is a key component of DOE’s effort to keep the public informed of environmental conditions at the WVDP. The quality assurance protocols applied to the environmental monitoring program ensure the validity and accuracy of the monitoring data. In addition to demonstrating compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and directives, evaluation of data collected in 2021 continued to indicate that WVDP activities pose no threat to public health or safety, or to the environment.
