AmeriFlux FLUXNET-1F US-Wi5 Mixed young jack pine (MYJP)

This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site US-Wi5 Mixed young jack pine (MYJP). This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site US-Wi5 Mixed young jack pine (MYJP) produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - The Wisconsin Mixed Young Jack Pine site is located in the Washburn Ranger District of the northeastern section of Chequamegon National Forest. A member of the northern coniferous-deciduous biome, surveys from the mid-19th century indicate the region consisted of a mixed stand of red, white, and jack pines. After extensive timber harvesting, wildfires, and farming activity, the region turned into a fragmented mosaic of stands of various ages and composition. As an assemblage, the ten Wisconsin sites are indicative of the successional stages of development in the predominant stand types of a physically homogeneous landscape. Clearcut on 40 to 70 year intervals, jack pine stands occupy approximately 13% of the region.

AmeriFlux AR-Rom Romano Mar Chiquita BA

This is the AmeriFlux version of the carbon flux data for the site AR-Rom Romano Mar Chiquita BA. Site Description - The site was at Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon, located in the southeast of Buenos Aires province, Argentina, in an agricultural establishment (“Antonio Romano S. A.”), whose main activity was cattle production. A flux tower was settled within the raised high marsh approximately 6 km from the sea and 2 km from a lagoon. The water body showed two hydrographic areas with marine and inland influence regulated by the sea tides and rainfall respectively. There were sandy dunes occupied by open vegetation composed of grasses and herb species. Physiognomy surrounding the measurement site was the characteristic evergreen grassy landscape with an average canopy height of 0.7 m and little phenological variation throughout the year.

Idaho National Laboratory CY 2024 National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants Analysis, Methodology, and Results for Radionuclides

This report documents the methodology and results for calculating the effective dose equivalent (EDE) to the maximally exposed individual (MEI) from atmospheric radionuclide emissions from Idaho National Laboratory (INL) sources in Calendar Year (CY) 2024. The calculations were performed in accordance with requirements in Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Title 40, “Protection of the Environment,” Part 61, “National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPs),” Subpart H, “National Emission Standards for Emissions of Radionuclides Other than Radon from Department of Energy Facilities” (40 CFR 61, Subpart H). UDFs were calculated using the computer model CAP88-PC for unit (1 Ci/yr) emission rates at INL Site facilities and INL in-town (Idaho Falls) facilities and stored in Microsoft Access databases. The UDFs—in this case, mrem/Ci—were then combined with radionuclide-specific release (emission) rates for each facility-specific source to compute doses at predetermined public receptor locations, including the MEI locations. This report contains the dose results and a description of the methodology and tools used to compute the doses.

Development of an unsteady water tunnel.

A detailed description is given of an unsteady hydrodynamic flow facility located at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama. This facility is used to measure unsteady pressures and forces and to acquire hydrogen bubble flow visualization data pertaining to bodies submerged in different types of accelerating flow. Various data acquisition systems are delineated along with typical experimental results acquired using cylindrical models. The method of facility operation and theoretical design considerations are shown along with a comparison between calculations and experimental results. This comparison indicates that the theoretical design procedures sufficiently represented the physical phenomenon for facility design.

Mean flow and noise measurements in a Mach 3.5 pilot quiet tunnel

The use of Mach 3.5 two-dimensional rapid expansion nozzle for wind tunnel testing at supersonic speeds and low noise conditions encountered in high altitude flights is described. The supersonic pilot quiet tunnel is located at the NASA Langley Research Center and a description of the facility is provided, along with instrumentation and noise measurement test data at 30, 50, and 75 psia. The mean pitot pressure distributions, rms noise levels, the effect of unit Reynolds number, wall waviness, wall contaminants, and the effects of closing the bleed valve are analyzed. Typical laminar and turbulent spectra are presented, along with a summary of the effect of slot throat adjustment on the power spectra. Comparisons are made of the power spectra with the bleed valve open and closed, and of the rms fluctuating pressures with levels from conventional nozzles, and the performance capabilities are evaluated for use in transition studies.
