Project Motivation: Uranium corrosion susceptible and highly catalytic; Exposure thickens oxide impacting material performance. This worsens with time; Sigma is uniquely positioned to tackle R&D challenges with Uranium processing. Possible Solutions: 1) Make new material for each weld. Occupational exposure, difficult to align resources ; 2) Coatings? Coating adds foreign material: can this be minimized?

Thermal and strain cycling tests for STI’s coated conductor have been performed with our newly updated critical current/tensile tester. The original goal was to carry out 1000 thermal cycles and 1000 strain cycles and measure Ic for pre and post cycling. The tape exceeded the goal. Thermal testing was successful with 2900 cycles and strain testing was carried out for 2000 cycles without any significant Ic degradation. Another important milestone was to produce lengths greater than 100m, a 2X improvement over reported performance reported in Q4/2019 report was completed.
Fermilab is working on superconducting accelerator magnet R&D under the framework of the U.S. MagnetDevelopment Program (USMDP). An integral part of that program is High Temperature Superconducting (HTS)accelerator magnet development to- demonstrate HTS self‐fields of 5 T or greater- be compatible with operation in hybrid LTS/HTS configuration• to probe fields beyond 16 T for future High Energy Physics (HEP) experiments
A search for a sterile neutrino is being carried out in the MicroBooNE experiment within the 3+1 (three flavors of active neutrinos + one flavor of sterile neutrino) framework using neutrinos from the Booster Neutrino Beam (BNB) at a baseline of about 470 m with an average neutrino energy of 800 MeV. The sensitivity of this search is built upon high performance inclusive charged-current electron neutrino ($ν_e$) and muon neutrino ($ν_µ$) event selections, which were utilized in the previous search for a low-energy excess (LEE) in the $ν_e$ energy spectrum at MicroBooNE. In this note, we present the results of a 3+1 oscillation fit considering both $ν_e$ appearance and $ν_e$/$ν_µ$ disappearance. Using the first three years’ BNB data, no evidence of a light sterile neutrino was found and 95% C.L. exclusion limits were calculated in the 3+1 neutrino oscillation parameter space. Notably, the cancellation between $ν_e$ disappearance and $ν_e$ appearance oscillations leads to a reduced oscillation effect in the $ν_e$ energy spectrum resulting in a degeneracy of the oscillation parameters. Such a degeneracy is expected to be mitigated by including the neutrino events from the off-axis Neutrino from the Main Injector (NuMI) beam. The prospect of a 3+1 oscillation analysis using both BNB and NuMI is reported and it is expected to considerably improve the sensitivity to 3+1 neutrino oscillations.

The sensitivity of this search is built upon high performance inclusive charged-current electron neutrino and muon neutrino event selections. The previous 3+1 sterile neutrino search using only BNB data, the cancellation between $\nu_{e}$ disappearance and $\nu_{e}$ appearance oscillations led to a reduced oscillation effect in the $\nu_{e}$ energy spectrum resulting in a degeneracy of the oscillation parameters. Such a degeneracy is shown to be mitigated by including the neutrino events from the NuMI beam.
