AmeriFlux FLUXNET-1F US-ALQ Allequash Creek Site

This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site US-ALQ Allequash Creek Site. This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site US-ALQ Allequash Creek Site produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - From Turner et al (2019): The 32 ha fen wetland is situated in Trout Lake Basin in northern WI (46.030759,−89.606730). It is part of the National Science Foundation’s North Temperate Lakes Long-Term Ecological Research (NTL-LTER) as formerly as part of the US Geological Survey’s Water, Energy and Biogeochemical Budgets Program (WEBB) Trout Lake site. The soil comprises outwash sand and gravel atop crystalline bedrock. Due to the glacial outwash, the soil is highly conductive and promotes groundwater discharge to the nearby creek. A headwater stream, Allequash Creek, flows from the southeast to the northwest through the fen. The eddy covariance flux tower is located along the stream which is surrounded by tree stands to the northeast and southwest that create a “valley” and cause channelized flow in the direction of the stream.

NCSU HTDMA data

NCSU HTDMA data Data Level b1: QC checks applied to measurements Data Format: CSV Description: See "instrument description Site: Houston, TX; Tracking Aerosol Convection interactions ExpeRiment (HOU) Location: Houston, TX; AMF1 (main site for TRACER) Facility Code: M1 Category: Aerosol Properties Data Type: PI Data Source Instrument/Data: Humidified Tandem Differential Mobility Analyzer; 2 Differential Mobility Analyzers (DMA1 and DMA2). Start Date: 2022-06-01 End Date: 2022-09-26 Contact PI: Markus Petters (mdpetter@ncsu.edu) Funding Source: DOE ASR award US Department of Energy, Office of Science, Biological and Environment Research (grant no. DE-SC 0021074) Instrument description The NCSU HTDMA was operated at a sheath-to-sample flow ratio of 5:1 L min−1. The HTDMA was configured to measure hygroscopic growth factors of dry particles with mobility diameters of D = 15, 20, 30, 40, and 50 nm at RH ~ 70%. A complete cycle for all diameters took ~30 minutes. A sample line brought aerosol inside the trailer at 2.5 L min-1, where it was distributed between NCSU RDMA (1.5 L min-1) and NCSU HTDMA (1 L min-1) lines. The sample line was dried with three silica-gel driers in series, and then neutralized with X-ray neutralizer. The sample line entered DMA1 (operated as an electrostatic classifier). Monodisperse particles with certain fractions were humidified with temperature controlled Nafion membrane immersed in water before entering DMA2 (operated in scanning mobility particle sizer). AmeriFlux CA-MA1 Manitoba Agricultural Site 1

This is the AmeriFlux version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-MA1 Manitoba Agricultural Site 1. Site Description - This field had been in perennial forages (grass with small amount of legume) for several decades. Field size = 39 ha. In 2008, the producer tilled the land so that part of the summer had perennial forage, and the remainder was fallow. In 2009, oats were planted. In 2010, canola was planted. In 2011, oats were planted. See Table 3 in Taylor et al (2013) describing site management practices.

AmeriFlux CA-DB2 Delta Burns Bog 2

This is the AmeriFlux version of the carbon flux data for the site CA-DB2 Delta Burns Bog 2. Site Description - The Burns Bog Ecological Conservancy Area (BBECA) in the metro Vancouver area presents a unique opportunity for insight into greenhouse gas dynamics post restoration. The bog was significantly disturbed for peat mining, development and agriculture over the last century, however since 2005 there has been both active restoration and natural regeneration occurring within the bog. Hence areas of bog are at varying stages of ecological recovery. This site is a Pine-Sphagnum low shrub site characteristic of a later successional stage. Conversely, CA-DBB, another AmeriFlux site in BBECA, is a Beakrush-Sphagnum site characteristic of an earlier successional stage.

AmeriFlux US-NC5 NC Butner Farm

This is the AmeriFlux version of the carbon flux data for the site US-NC5 NC Butner Farm. Site Description - The US-NC5 flux tower is located within an 80-year-old mixed pine-hardwood forest at the Umstead Research Farm in Butner, North Carolina. The northern section of this 20-hectare Fall Lake Watershed of the Neuse River Basin in the Piedmont of North Carolina, USA. The Northern portion is currently a managed cattle farm, which is slated for expansion—necessitating forest clearing in the flux site. To establish a reference baseline, a year-long, all-season eddy covariance flux monitoring campaign will be conducted from April 2025 to March 2026. This effort aims to capture the carbon flux dynamics of the mature forest ecosystem prior to a planned land-use conversion. The site will be transitioned into a silvopasture, maintained through prescribed burning and cattle grazing to promote an open-canopy watershed structure. Flux measurements will continue after the conversion.

AmeriFlux US-Jo2 Jornada Experimental Range Mixed Shrubland

This is the AmeriFlux version of the carbon flux data for the site US-Jo2 Jornada Experimental Range Mixed Shrubland. Site Description - The study area is in a mixed shrub-dominated portion of the San Andres Mountain piedmont, along the southeastern boundary of the Jornada Experimental Range (JER) in southern New Mexico, USA. The JER was established in 1912 as a response of scientis and landowner to the shrub enchroachment and loss of grasses due to extended grazing during the late 1800s, fire and climate change. JER has been a NSF LTER site since 1981.The study site is a small watershed (4.67 ha) in an alluvial slope or bajada, with three major areas (north-, south- and west-facing hillslopes) with low to moderate slopes (∼0–6°) with a mean slope of 2.6°, while the channel banks and propagating channel heads have higher slopes (∼15–25°). The site is charactetized by a high bare soil coverage (∼66%), ∼28% of mixed shrubs coverage and a low coverage of grass (∼4%) and weeds (∼2%).
