Fermilab's accelerator timing links broadcast short event codes to thousands of devices at once, but the links themselves carry no absolute notion of time; that comes separately from a White Rabbit reference. This work builds the piece that ties the two together on a single board. On a Xilinx Kria KR260 (Zynq UltraScale+), the programmable logic decodes a real Fermilab TCLK link, stamps every event with an absolute White-Rabbit \{sec, ns\} UTC time, and reads the timestamped stream out over AXI4-Lite; a thin Linux process on the same die publishes each event into a Redis stream on the control network. To exercise the full chain on one board, the decoded events are re-encoded as gigabit ACLK, transmitted out an SFP+ optical port, looped back over a short fiber jumper, and decoded again on the same timeline, and are additionally mirrored as an ACLK-Lite Manchester waveform for benchtop probing. Across sustained, multi-day testing against real Fermilab TCLK, the pipeline has decoded, timestamped, and published hundreds of millions of events with practically zero loss, and folding the timestamped stream on the 60-second accelerator supercycle recovers the machine's periodic structure directly from the published data.

Analog-to-digital converter-pulse height analyzer for data reduction from balloon measurements
Material and processing development, magnetic storage devices, and design of memory incorporating foil storage device
Improved electrical circuit determines the amount of light detected by a photomultiplier tube when its output signal is in the dark-current range of the tube. The low-intensity light to which the tube responds arises from a thermo-luminescent ionized dosimeter.
Instrument, designed for mounting in aircraft instrument panels, decodes identification signals received in Morse from VOR or ILS transmitters as they are received and displays the literal equivalent. Without elaboration it cannot decode numbers.
Feedback-controlled pulse-amplitude integrator and amplifier is used as an analog-to-digital converter that converts event-liberated charges, emanating from a nuclear-particle detector, directly to numbers rather than to analog-dependent voltages.
Bistable amplifier prevents damage in the low range circuitry of a dual scale ammeter. It senses the current and switches automatically to the high range circuitry as the current rises above a preset level.
Circuit design for determining amount of photomultiplier tube light detection utilizing variable current source and dark current signals of opposite polarity
Mosaic semiconductor radiation detector and position indicator systems engineering for low energy particles
A system configuration which provides for a wide variety of user requirements is described. Two distinct user types are considered and optimized configurations are provided. Independent satellite transmission systems allow simultaneous signal transmission to Regional Collection Centers via a high data rate channel and to local users who require near real time consumption of lower rate data. In order to maximize the ultimate utility of this study effort, a parametric system description is given such that in essence a shopping list is provided. To achieve these results, it was necessary to consider all technical disciplines associated with high resolution satellite imaging systems including signal processing, modulation and coding, recording, and display techniques. A total systems study was performed.
The operating characteristics of a porous plug which has liquid helium on one side and which is pumped on under vacuum on the other side are discussed. The system investigated consists of a container of liquid helium which is well isolated, and the only means for mass flow out of the container is through a plug mode of porous material. The plug was assumed to have liquid helium on the container side while the other side of the plug is evacuated. Three cases were considered: (1) perfect evacuation with zero pressure, (2) evacuation through a chocked orifice, and (3) evacuation through a long, small diameter pipe with heating. Mass flow rates were determined along with mass flow at temperature above the lambda point temperature. Solutions were obtained for normal and superfluid velocity.
A design of a read out system for a superconducting gyroscope to be used in an orbiting gyroscope relativity experiment is discussed. The 'London Moment' of the superconducting rotor, which lies along the spin axis of the rotor, will be measured with a SQUID-type magnetometer. The SQUID will be built around the gyro rotor, with a very close spacing to give an inductance between 10 millionths and 1 millionth Hy. A SQUID of this design should resolve 2.07 times 10 to the minus 19th weber. The angular resolution of the gyroscope will then be 0.0035 arc-second, which is sufficient for the intended experiment.
Display power and segment data are multiplexed over same coaxial line. Thus, only one wire and return lead are needed, and single power supply at central location can service all remote displays.
A high-resolution 0.4-m monochromator is described for use in wavelength diagnosis of tunable pulsed and CW laser sources in the 3000-10,000-A region. The f/20 design uses an echelle grating in an over-and-under Ebert configuration with a scanned photodiode array to provide a real-time multichannel display of spectral output. Absolute wavelength may be determined to 0.1 A with the monochromator, and a Fabry-Perot interferometer attachment extends linewidth measurement capability to 0.01 A or better. Spectra are displayed on a storage oscilloscope, and calculation of laser parameters is explained. The instrument measures 70 cm long x 15 cm wide x 20 cm high.
