Distribution Grid Model Publication Investigation

Interest in the external exchange of distribution grid model data is growing around the world, driven largely by the challenges and opportunities presented by the increasing amount of generation, storage, and flexible load being embedded within the distribution grid. This report provides an overview of the current state of distribution grid model data sharing, with a focus on the industry-leading activities currently underway in Great Britain (GB). A second report will explore opportunities for external distribution grid model sharing in the United States.

Solar Energy Demonstration Project for Public Libraries

In this project, the South Hero Library Foundation purchased and installed a 39.95 kW DC roof-mounted solar array on the south-facing roof of the Worthen Library as well as on the south-facing roof of the neighboring 54 Community Lane building. This 94 panel array has a projected output of 39,950 kWh of power which will cover the Library’s annual power usage for heat and lighting. Any power overage will be distributed to other local organizations as designated by the Library. Library programming and added resources will be available to all patrons.

National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program (NEVI) Brief for State Public Utility Commissions

The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program (NEVI program) is a funding opportunity for all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). The NEVI program instructs states to “strategically deploy electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and to establish an interconnected network to facilitate data collection, access, and reliability.” The NEVI program allocates more than $\$$5 billion to states from Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 to 2026 on a formula basis. NEVI funds are available to private entities, including utilities, to build EV Supply Equipment (EVSE)1 and associated EV grid infrastructure.

Synopsis of NREL's Automated Mobility District (AMD) Research Program and Associated Publications

An automated mobility district (AMD) envisions a system of integrated mobility options that serves major activity centers such as campuses, central business districts, and large medical facilities. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has been investigating the implementation prospects for fully automated passenger transport systems that are deployed to operate within dense urban settings. This document provides a synopsis of findings revealed over the last three phases of work, which have yielded insights into the creation and management of AMDs anticipated to use automated vehicle (AV) technology over the next decade. Phase I and Phase II tracked the deployment and lessons learned from 10 early-stage demonstrations of automated shuttle deployments, and their associated insights into the challenges for automated driving systems to achieve safe operations within district-scale deployments. Phase III began in-depth investigations of critical subsystem components, as automation, electrification, and on-demand service continue to converge within initial AMD operations. These directed studies focus on elements of electrification, curbfront/station management, the role of infrastructure sensing, and overall integration of AMD safety management in central, simultaneous coordination of multiple AMD fleets. Future research in AMDs includes systems engineering methodology (more frequently referred to as "digital twins") for planning, design, testing, and ongoing operation of AMDs; location (or co-location) of management functions; and human supervision and passenger communications for safety and security in unattended vehicles. The synopsis references the foundational research products (papers and presentations) that have been published through conference proceedings, journal articles, and NREL reports.

Public Release of the MENDF80 and MT80 Nuclear Data Libraries for NDI

This document describes the MENDF80 and MT80 data libraries, which are multi-group neutron cross section libraries based on ENDF/B-VIII.0 for LANL’s Nuclear Data Interface (NDI). MENDF80 is a downscatter-only library, while MT80 is multi-temperature. Both libraries also have 30-group pre-collapsed versions, MENDF80 30 and MT80 30.

A Guide for Public Utility Commissions: Building Internal Technical Capacity and Recruiting Talent for Grid Resilience

This guide offers insight into how PUCs can strategically expand their technical workforce to meet evolving gird resilience demands. It outlines critical skill sets needed to support informed regulatory decision-making around resilience, such as modeling and weather forecasting, electric power systems analysis, and advanced data interpretation. In addition, it provides strategies for developing technical talent both internally and through additional recruitment efforts. Two appendices provide a list of grid resilience training resources and a compendium of sample job descriptions that reflect grid resilience technical expertise for PUC consideration.

Literature Review of Selected Publications Relevant to Carbon Dioxide Pipeline and Storage Systems

The annotated bibliographies provided in this document focus on identifying and reviewing environmental impact statements (EIS), environmental assessments (EA), and scientific literature relevant to aspects of CO 2 pipeline and storage construction and operation. The purpose of these summaries is to aid stakeholders responsible for the preparation of documents compliant with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements to have access to a quick and comprehensive guide of the literature that can inform their activities. They aim to inform the development of EISs and EAs by identifying potential environmental concerns and mitigation strategies. The annotated bibliographies captured in this document cover the general environmental assessment and impact topics relevant to CO 2 pipeline and storage construction and operation activities, with the subject of waste creation and handling being specifically pulled out into its own section. The reasoning behind a dedicated section for waste is that many EAs and EISs focus on the description of waste and its impacts, be it caused in routine operation or as a result of an accident.

Participation in and Assessment of the Third DNCSH Public Workshop

Advanced reactor development and deployment is introducing fuel forms, materials, and configurations that differ from those used in traditional light-water reactors (LWRs), including tristructural-isotropic (TRISO)-based fuels, moderators, high-temperature materials, and compact core designs. These attributes can fall outside the range of applicability of existing criticality safety validation bases and may require additional work in code validation and benchmark applicability.
