Using Tau Leptons as a Tool for Studying the Higgs in the SM and Beyond

In the Standard Model, the mass generation of fermions is achieved through the Higgs Yukawa coupling. There exists several more fundamental theories, such as super- symmetry, that could imply deviations of the couplings of the observed Higgs boson to down-type fermions, such as the τ lepton. Therefore, it is necessary to demonstrate the direct coupling of the Higgs boson to the fundamental fermions and to demonstrate the proportionality of the Higgs boson coupling strength to their mass. Furthermore, any deviations from Standard Model expectation could hint at beyond the Standard Model physics. We summarize a measurement of Higgs to Tau leptons at CMS using a simplified template cross section scheme as well as a differential measurement as a function of Higgs transverse momentum, leading jet transverse momentum and the number of jets present in the event. We also summarize recent calorimeter trigger related activities which will help to improve Higgs to fermion measurements in the future runs at the LHC.

149 Sm Results from DICER Plus DANCE [Slides]

DICER and DANCE can provide detailed and accurate resonance parameters and on smaller samples than any other facility from sub-thermal energies through the RRR. Many additional experiments of interest to NCSP could easily be performed at DICER and DANCE. DANCE also can provide accurate (n,γ) cross sections in the URR.

Muon g-2 Experiment and SM

The anomalous magnetic moment of muon has been used as an indication of physics beyond the Standard Model. Fermilab Muon g-2 experiment has published the most precise measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of muon with an uncertainty of 460 part-per-billion which showed 4.2 sigma discrepancy between the experiment average and the 2020 g-2 Theory Initiative Standard Model prediction. This talk will show the recent results from the Fermilab Muon g-2 experiment while also briefly cover the status of the Standard Model prediction on calculating the anomalous magnetic moment of muon.

147 Sm Neutron Capture Cross Section and Resonances

Measurement of ( n,γ ) cross sections measurements are of high importance to many fields such as radiochemical diagnostics, technical nuclear forensics, nuclear physics and astrophysics, nuclear criticality safety, advanced reactors, and isotope production. For these applications an accurate characterization of the resonances in the resolved resonance region is important. In the energy range of the resonance region neutron capture, and scattering are possible so the total resonance width Γ is the sum of the gamma and neutron widths Γ = Γ γ +Γ n .

CSM programs SM RCS propellant quantity gaging systems program

Computer program calculates actual and useable remaining propellant quantities as required in positive expulsion rocket engine propellant feed system. Program establishes relationship between helium system pressures and temperatures and propellant weight remaining in tanks. Program is written in FORTRAN 4 for IBM-360 computer.

Modeling the evolution of Sm and Eu abundances during lunar igneous differentiation

The current work presents models for the evolution of europium and samarium abundances during lunar igneous processes. The effect of probable variations in lunar temperature and oxygen fugacity, mineral-liquid distribution coefficients, and the crystallization or melting progression are considered in the model calculations. Changes in the proportions of crystallizing phases strongly influence the evolution of trace element abundances during fractional crystallization, and models must include realistic estimates of the major phase equilibria during crystallization. The results are applied to evaluating the possibility of generating KREEP-rich materials by lunar igneous processes.
