Scalable auditability of monitoring process using public ledgers

Secure auditability of monitoring processing using public ledgers that are particularly useful for monitoring surveillance orders, whereby an overseeing enforcer (“E”) checks if law enforcement agencies and companies are respectively over-requesting or over-sharing user data beyond what is permitted by the surveillance order, in a privacy-preserving way, such that E does not know the real identities of the users being surveilled, nor does E get to read the users' unencrypted data. Embodiments of the present invention also have inbuilt checks and balances to require unsealing of surveillance orders at the appropriate times, thus enabling accounting of the surveillance operation to verify that lawful procedures were followed, protecting users from government overreach, and helping law enforcement agencies and companies demonstrate that they followed the rule of law.

Systems and methods for data analytics for virtual energy audits and value capture assessment of buildings

A system may provide virtual energy audits of one or more target buildings. The system may retrieve weather data and energy usage data specific to a given target building from a weather server and a utility server, respectively. The system may store predefined building characteristics corresponding to the given target building in local memory. Based on the weather data, energy usage data, and/or predefined building characteristics, the system may generate one or more building markers that characterize the energy usage and efficiency of the given target building. Building efficiency diagnostics and energy conservation prognostics may be generated based on the building markers and may be sent by the system to be displayed via a user interface of a client device. The energy conservation prognostics may include one or more energy conservation measure recommendations and corresponding predicted cost/energy savings.

NM 502 Road Safety Audit Report

The Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) and the Los Alamos National Laboratory - Parking and Transportation Services (LANL) have been working in close collaboration to seek solutions for parking, traffic operations, traffic safety, and transit issues facing LANL. NM 502 is a main route for employee traffic entering the lab as well as traffic in and out of the Los Alamos Townsite. The section of roadway in the vicinity of Camino Entrada is of particular interest as it was the site of two very serious crashes involving the extended LANL family, and it is also the entry point onto NM 502 for Los Alamos County Operations to include the school district and transit vehicles.

Feature Engineering and Ensemble Methods for Imbalanced ICS Intrusion Detection: Pipeline Audit and Constrained Evaluation

Industries are becoming increasingly connected and are more vulnerable to cyberattacks due to the widened attack surface. Industrial Control Systems (ICS) are among the most critical sectors that malicious actors can target, as such attacks can cause significant operational disruption and physical damage. It is imperative to detect such attacks as early as possible. This paper evaluates constraint-conditioned optimistic performance estimates for traditional ML models in ICS intrusion detection (i.e., estimates obtained under contiguous, non-shuffled temporal evaluation without test-set alteration, but with pre-split feature engineering that may introduce temporal leakage, due to dataset constraints). Our findings are threefold. First, we quantify how iterative feature engineering affects tree-based ensemble performance and examine how pipeline decisions (split strategy, sampling scope, and cleaning policy) can inflate or reduce reported IDS results under constraint-bound evaluation. Second, we compare intrinsic class-imbalance handling across ensemble models. Third, under our current pipeline constraints (including pre-split feature engineering), CatBoost achieves the best performance on Water Storage Tank (accuracy: 0.9831, class-1 F1: 0.9682), while Light- GBM achieves the best performance on Gas Pipeline (accuracy: 0.9618, class-1 F1: 0.9086).

Energy Audit of MC-1

The goal of the Muon g-2 project is to measure the muon magnetic anomalous moment to a precision of 140 ppb. This is an unprecedented endeavor that will allow for the comparison of the standard model’s prediction and experimental value of the muon magnetic anomaly. If the difference is statistically significant this could mean there is physics beyond the standard model.

Radio Frequency Spectrum Audit to Inventory Private Cellular Base Station Infrastructure

The ever-changing cellular communication landscape makes it difficult to identify, map, and localize cellular base stations. Localizing cellular base stations provides various advantages, including information security, cybersecurity, spectrum management, and interference detection. For example, the MITRE ATT&CK® (Adversarial Tactics, Techniques, and Common Knowledge architecture) [1] and Common Attack Pattern Enumeration and Classification [2] emphasize the importance of being able to minimize the cyber security threat presented by unregulated private cellular base stations (PCBS). The majority of published research looks at the malicious use of PCBSs and focuses on using data retrieved from user equipment (UE), data obtained from an application on the UE, or data shared between the UE and a mobile network to locate it. This innovative strategy, however, focuses on the passively discovered uniqueness of radio frequency (RF) transmissions from commercial cellular infrastructure received in a designated monitoring position (DMP).

Automated Defect Identification for Tri-structural Isotropic Fuels (AUDIT)

During the manufacture of tri-structural isotropic (TRISO)-coated nuclear fuel particles, the potential exists for the formation of internal fissure defects in the uranium oxycarbide (UCO) kernels. These fissures result in a defective fuel particle that can fracture during subsequent fuel processing. Therefore, it is necessary to detect the presence of fissured kernels in a batch to determine if the batch meets specification prior to blending with other batches and upgrading processes. Previous attempts at identifying fissures involved manual inspection of micrographs of UCO fuel kernel cross-sections. This process is tedious, time-consuming and may introduce counting errors making it a good candidate for automation. This work presents a method for the automated detection of fissures in UCO kernels. Image segmentation is used for the extraction of relevant features in the micrographs which then serve as the input to a convolutional neural network used to automatically distinguish between fissured and non-fissured kernels.

Web-Based Weatherization Assistant Getting Started Guide

This guide provides introductory information on how to get started in using the web-based Weatherization Assistant audit tool and running the National Energy Audit Tool, Manufactured Home Energy Audit, Multifamily Tool for Energy Audits, and Health and Safety Audit. For new users, this guideline also outlines how you can create a client and start an audit for that client. The Weatherization Assistant is a family of advanced audit tools designed specifically to help states and local weatherization agencies implement the US Department of Energy (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program. The Weatherization Assistant is developed and maintained by DOE’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). It applies engineering and economic calculations to assist states and agencies in selecting energy-efficient retrofit measures that meet government criteria for cost effectiveness and that can be installed in homes of low-income families enrolled in the program. The Weatherization Assistant can be used to select and rank measures for individual houses, or to establish a priority list of weatherization measures for nearly identical housing types.

Two-stage formation-energy correction (NbZr, TaZr, VZr)

This bundle contains the scripts, the raw and corrected per-structure data, and the manuscript plots for the NbZr / TaZr / VZr BCC binary formation energies and the associated RMSDs. Why a two-stage correction is necessary: The "raw" formation energy of every relaxed VASP configuration is computed in the usual way, FE_raw(c) = E_alloy(c) - sum_i x_i * E_pure_i , where E_pure_i are the per-atom total energies of the pure-element reference structures (Nb, Ta, V, Zr in the same BCC supercell, with identical INCAR / KPOINTS / PAW choices). With perfectly consistent reference runs the raw FE should vanish at the two pure-element endpoints (x = 0 and x = 1) by construction. In practice this does not hold for two reasons that are present in our dataset: 1. Reference-energy inconsistency (composition-dependent bias). Even with identical input parameters, the pure-element runs (stored in `corrected_DFT_pure_element_runs/`) differ slightly from the values that would be implied by the alloy runs at near-pure compositions (a few meV/atom). This bias is approximately linear in concentration, because the residual error in E_pure_Nb (or E_pure_Ta / E_pure_V) propagates into FE_raw(c) as (1 - x) * dE_pure_1, and the corresponding error in E_pure_Zr propagates as x * dE_pure_2. Left uncorrected, this produces a non-physical "tilt" of FE_raw(x) and shifts the entire FE-vs-x cloud away from zero at the endpoints. 2. Endpoint anchoring against the audited true endpoints. The strict endpoint values (FE_x0_meVatom, FE_x1_meVatom in `corrected_fe_strict_endpoints_20260518/strict_endpoint_check_20260518.csv`) were re-derived from an independent cross-check of the pure-element runs. After stage 1 removes the linear bias, the near-pure compositions in the alloy dataset still extrapolate to values that differ slightly from these audited endpoints — because stage 1 is fit from a few near-end alloy bins, not from the audited pure-element references themselves. The README.txt file discusses how these issues are addressed by the two-stage correction, and describes folder layout, pipeline summary, and how to re-run.
