1994 SEMCOG Household-Based Person Trip Survey

The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments contracted with the Applied Management & Planning Group to conduct a travel behavior survey of 7,361 households from March 28, 1994, to June 10, 1994. The primary purpose of this study was to provide the council with a new database of travel behavior to assist in updating the region's transportation models. This data collection includes demographic, socioeconomic, travel, and mobile source emissions models for projecting future patterns of development, travel, congestion, and air pollution. Information about household characteristics and travel was collected using a one-day, activity-focused diary and a separate household survey. In an activity diary, respondents recorded 65,535 trips during the assigned the day.

RIKEN TRIP Magnets Database

This dataset contains ab-initio calculation results for the temperature-dependent anomalous Hall conductivity, the anomalous Nernst effect, and the Seebeck coefficient. All calculations are based on ab-inito Quantum Espresso (PWSCF v.6.3) + Wannier90 (v.3.0.0). The dependence on carrier doping is also calculated. For all calculations a ferromagnetic order has been assumed, which might not correspond to the true ground state of the system. Tabulated values for the magnetic moments and essential input files for Quantum Espresso are available for download as attachments. This project has been supported by the RIKEN Transformative Research Innovation Platform (TRIP), Use Case: Many-body Electron Systems.

Tracing Phase Transformation and Lattice Evolution in a TRIP Sheet Steel under High-Temperature Annealing by Real-Time In Situ Neutron Diffraction

Real-time in situ neutron diffraction was used to characterize the crystal structure evolution in a transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) sheet steel during annealing up to 1000 °C and then cooling to 60 °C. Based on the results of full-pattern Rietveld refinement, critical temperature regions were determined in which the transformations of retained austenite to ferrite and ferrite to high-temperature austenite during heating and the transformation of austenite to ferrite during cooling occurred, respectively. The phase-specific lattice variation with temperature was further analyzed to comprehensively understand the role of carbon diffusion in accordance with phase transformation, which also shed light on the determination of internal stress in retained austenite. These results prove the technique of real-time in situ neutron diffraction as a powerful tool for heat treatment design of novel metallic materials.

Fast Charging Infrastructure for Electrifying Road Trips to and from National Parks in the Western United States

This study investigated the fast-charging infrastructure needed by 2030 to enable seamless electrified road trips to and from national parks and monuments in seven western states: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. It also estimated impacts to the electric grid. The research team investigated how on-route charging infrastructure projections change with different parameters or assumptions, as do related charging loads and grid impacts. NREL conducted the study in partnership with utility service provider PacifiCorp and Utah State University as part of the Western Smart Regional EV Adoption and Infrastructure at Scale project.
