Brazilian CBP - Technoeconomic analysis data

This data is related to the paper entitled "Techno-economic analysis of sugarcane bagasse and straw conversion into cellulosic ethanol via consolidated bioprocessing". That features the evaluation of sugarcane bagasse and straw conversion to ethanol at stand-alone facilities generating electricity from residues. The following scenarios were evaluated: Conventional, featuring hydrothermal pretreatment, fungal cellulase, and yeast fermentation (current commercial standard); Mid-term consolidated bioprocessing (CBP), relying on bagasse solubilization without pretreatment or cotreatment; and Mature CBP, incorporating cotreatment but no pretreatment and considering significant technological advance of the CBP. Available here are the spreadsheets used for Material and Energy balance calculation, Capital and Operational costs estimation and Cash flow analysis. Also available are the description and python code used for Monte Carlo analysis of the ethanol and capital investment variations. This data can be used as a source to implement other techno-economic analysis in the biorefinary context.

Final Report: Process Intensification of Hydrogen Production through Sorption-Enhanced Gasification of Biomass

The University of Utah, in partnership with Idaho National Laboratory (INL), evaluated Sorption-Enhanced Gasification (SEG) as a transformative pathway for producing hydrogen with the potential for negative CO 2 emissions. SEG integrates gasification, water-gas shift, and in-situ carbon capture within a dual fluidized bed reactor to enable efficient clean hydrogen production. Key challenges related to biomass variability and process complexity were addressed through feedstock engineering, reaction optimization, and process validation. A co-pelletized biomass–limestone feedstock was developed to simplify feeding and introduction of makeup limestone. Kinetic and sorbent studies identified optimal operating conditions and confirmed the suitability of low-cost limestone, while catalysts were developed to reduce tar formation. Reactor modeling and techno-economic analysis indicated that SEG can achieve competitive hydrogen production costs, particularly when combined with carbon incentives, supporting its potential for scale-up and carbon-negative operation.

Hyperspectral traits (TSWIFT) UC Davis Populus trichocarpa Common Garden

This dataset provides tower-based hyperspectral remote sensing measurements of individualPopulustrees collected with the TSWIFT system to support genetic analyses of canopy photosynthetic traits over time under drought. From 2022-08-18 to 2022-10-18, spectra were repeatedly acquired from the same targeted canopy area of each tree using fixed pointing coordinates. The dataset includes hyperspectral measurements from 400–900 nm and ultraspectral measurements from 730–780 nm. These spectra enable calculation of reflectance-based vegetation indices and other spectral traits, including solar-induced fluorescence (SIF) retrievals from the ultraspectral region. Because measurements were collected exclusively over a drought treatment plot, derived phenotypes are intended for drought-context genetic association and prediction analyses.

Geographic Distribution of Populus trichocarpa Genotypes by ADMIXTURE Ancestry

An interactive map showing Populus trichocarpa GWAS population structure estimated by ADMIXTURE (k=3, selected as optimal from k=2-11). Sampling locations are colored by their predominant ancestry proportion among the three inferred populations and geographic origins are searchable by genotype or river system using the search bar.
