Amplitude analysis of the ${D}_s^{+}$ → π - π + π + decay

A Dalitz plot analysis of the ${D}_s^{+}$ → π - π + π + decay is presented. The analysis is based on proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at a centre of-mass energy of 8 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.5 fb -1 . The resonant structure of the decay is obtained using a quasi-model-independent partial-wave analysis, in which the π + π - S-wave amplitude is parameterised as a generic complex function determined by a fit to the data. The S-wave component is found to be dominant, followed by the contribution from spin-2 resonances and a small contribution from spin-1 resonances. The latter includes the first observation of the ${D}_s^{+}$ → ω(782)π + channel in the ${D}_s^{+}$ → π - π + π + decay. The resonant structures of the ${D}_s^{+}$ → π - π + π + and ${D}^{+}$ → π - π + π + decays are compared, providing information about the mechanisms for the hadron formation in these decays.

Amplitude Analysis of ωπ0 Photoproduction at GlueX

spectrum of light mesons produced from a linearly polarized photon beam. The production and decays of a light meson resonance X such as γp → Xp′ →ωπ0p′ can be modeled with polarized vector-pseudoscalar ampli- tudes, which can describe the contribution of individual amplitudes to the total measured intensity. The status of mass-independent fits to the ωπ0 mass spectrum over a wide range of mass and momentum transfer−twill be presented, with an emphasis on interactions with the b1(1235) meson. We will also present in parallel an analysis of moments of the angular dis- tributions for the same process, as a means of verifying the stability of the amplitude-based results. These results will help to improve the broader knowledge of light meson states and how they are produced.

Medium amplitude parallel superposition (MAPS) rheology. Part 2: Experimental protocols and data analysis

An experimental protocol is developed to directly measure the new material functions revealed by medium amplitude parallel superposition (MAPS) rheology. This protocol measures the medium amplitude response of a material to a simple shear deformation composed of three sine waves at different frequencies, revealing a rich dataset consisting of up to 19 measurements of the third-order complex modulus at distinct three-frequency coordinates. We discuss how the choice of input frequencies influences the features of the MAPS domain studied by the experiment. A polynomial interpolation method for reducing the bias of measured values from spectral leakage and reducing variance due to noise is discussed, including a derivation of the optimal range of amplitudes for the input signal. This leads to the conclusion that conducting the experiment in a stress-controlled fashion possesses a distinct advantage to the strain-controlled mode. The experimental protocol is demonstrated through measurements of the MAPS response of a model complex fluid: a surfactant solution of wormlike micelles. The resulting dataset is indeed large and feature-rich, while still acquired in a time comparable to similar medium amplitude oscillatory shear (MAOS) experiments. We demonstrate that the data represent measurements of an intrinsic material function by studying its internal consistency, compatibility with low-frequency predictions for Coleman–Noll simple fluids, and agreement with data obtained via MAOS amplitude sweeps. Finally, the data are compared to predictions from the corotational Maxwell model to demonstrate the power of MAPS rheology in determining whether a constitutive model is consistent with a material’s time-dependent response.

Study of the B + → J/Ψ$\bar{Λ}$p decay using proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$= 8TeV

A study of the B + → J/Ψ$\bar{Λ}$p decay using proton-proton collision data collected at $\sqrt{s}$= 8TeV by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19:6 fb -1 , is presented. The ratio of branching fractions $\mathcal{B}$(B + → J/Ψ$\bar{Λ}$p) / $\mathcal{B}$(B + → j/Ψk* (892) + ) is measured to be (1.054 ±0.057(stat) ± 0.035(syst) ± 0.011($\mathcal{B}$))%, where the last uncertainty reflects the uncertainties in the world-average branching fractions of $\bar{Λ}$ and K* (892) + decays to reconstructed final states. The invariant mass distributions of the J/ψ$\bar{Λ}$, J/ψp, and $\bar{Λ}$p systems produced in the B + → J/Ψ$\bar{Λ}$p decay are investigated and found to be inconsistent with the pure phase space hypothesis. The analysis is extended by using a model-independent angular amplitude analysis, which shows that the observed invariant mass distributions are consistent with the contributions from excited kaons decaying to the $\bar{Λ}$p system.

Evaluation of nature and intensity of fire concrete spalling by frequency analysis of sound records

Highlights: • Original sound-based NDT method to assess the spalling form and intensity within the time of the test is proposed. • Frequency analysis of recorded sound provides a quantitative and qualitative assessment of concrete propensity to spalling. • Nature of fire concrete spalling can be categorized by a well-defined frequency value. • Waveform and spectrogram analysis delivers information on the exact number of spalling events within the performed test. The paper presents a new method for identifying the form and intensity of spalling using an analysis of the acoustic signal emitted by concrete. To assess the intensity and monitor the course of concrete spalling during fire exposure, the analysis of the recorded sound from the furnace chamber is used. The spalling intensity was determined based on signal amplitude analysis. Investigation of sound records showed that the character of spalling can be categorized by a well-defined frequency value. Based on the analysis of the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) spectrum, the authors have distinguished the following phenomena that are the source of the signal by assigning the corresponding frequency of the sound wave vibration: explosive spalling, aggregate spalling and destructive spalling.

A study of $CP$ violation in the decays $B^±$ → [$K^+ K^-π^+π^-$]$_Dh^±$ ($h$ = $K, π$) and $B^±$ → [$π^+π^-π^+π^-$]$_Dh^±$

The first study of CP violation in the decay mode $B^±$ → [$K^+ K^-π^+π^-$]$_Dh^±$, with $h$ = $K, π$, is presented, exploiting a data sample of proton–proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb -1 . The analysis is performed in bins of phase space, which are optimised for sensitivity to local CP asymmetries. CP-violating observables that are sensitive to the angle γ of the Unitarity Triangle are determined. The analysis requires external information on charm-decay parameters, which are currently taken from an amplitude analysis of LHCb data, but can be updated in the future when direct measurements become available. Measurements are also performed of phase-space integrated observables for $B^±$ → [$K^+ K^-π^+π^-$]$_Dh^±$ and $B^±$ → [$π^+π^-π^+π^-$]$_Dh^±$ decays.

Study of light-meson resonances decaying to K S 0 K π in the B → ( K S 0 K π ) K channels

A study is presented of B + → K S 0 K − π + K + and B + → K S 0 K + π − K + decays based on the analysis of proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb − 1 . The K S 0 K π invariant-mass distributions of both B + decay modes show, in the m ( K S 0 K π ) < 1.85 GeV mass region, large activity which is resolved using an amplitude analysis. A simple model, where J P C amplitudes are described by multiple Breit-Wigner functions with appropriate angular distributions, provides a good description of the experimental data. In this approach a complex mixture of J P C = 0 − + , 1 + + and 1 + − amplitudes is observed that is dominated by η ( 1405 ) , η ( 1470 ) , η ( 1760 ) , f 1 ( 1285 ) , f 1 ( 1420 ) and h 1 ( 1405 ) resonances. The K S 0 K π Dalitz plots are dominated by asymmetric crossing K * K ¯ bands which are different for the two B + decay modes. This is due to a different interference pattern between the 1 + + and 1 + − amplitudes in the two channels. Branching fractions are measured for each resonant contribution. © 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration 2025 CERN

Partial Wave Analysis of the omega pi^- Final State Photoproduced at GlueX

The meson has traditionally been understood as the bound state of a quark and an anti-quark, but there is experimental evidence for exotic meson states, which have properties that cannot be produced by this quark-antiquark model. One candidate for such exotic systems is hybrid meson, predicted by lattice QCD, which includes gluonicexcitation in its wavefunction. One of the prominent decay modes of the lightest predicted exotic hybrid is expected to be b1pi. THis dissertation presernts an analysis of the gamma rho -> omega pi- Delta ++ channel produced at the GlueX experiment, in the mass range where the b1(1235) meson is prominent. An amplitude analysis is performed on the decay of the omega pi- system, in order to extract the resonance parameters of the b-1, as well as analyze the resonant and non-resonant background.

Multi-spin soft bootstrap and scalar-vector Galileon

We use the amplitude soft bootstrap method to explore the space of effective field theories (EFT) of massless vectors and scalars. It is known that demanding vanishing soft limits fixes uniquely a special class of EFTs: non-linear sigma model, scalar Galileon and Born-Infeld theories. Based on the amplitudes analysis, we conjecture no-go theorems for higher-derivative vector theories and theories with coupled vectors and scalars. We then allow for more general soft theorems where the non-trivial part of the soft limit of the ( n +1)-pt amplitude is equal to a linear combination of n-pt amplitudes. We derive the form of these soft theorems for general power-counting and spins of particles and use it as an input into the soft bootstrap method in the case of Galileon power-counting and coupled scalar-vector theories. We show that this unifies the description of existing Galileon theories and leads us to the discovery of a new exceptional theory: Special scalar-vector Galileon.

${\Lambda}_c^{+}$ polarimetry using the dominant hadronic mode

The polarimeter vector field for multibody decays of a spin-half baryon is intro duced as a generalisation of the baryon asymmetry parameters. Using a recent amplitude analysis of the ${\Lambda}_c^{+}$ → $pK^-π^+$ decay performed at the LHCb experiment, we compute the distribution of the kinematic-dependent polarimeter vector for this process in the space of Mandelstam variables to express the polarised decay rate in a model-agnostic form. The obtained representation can facilitate polarisation measurements of the ${\Lambda}_c^{+}$ baryon and eases inclusion of the ${\Lambda}_c^{+}$ → $pK^-π^+$ decay mode in hadronic amplitude analyses.
