A reference high-pressure CH4 adsorption isotherm for zeolite Y: results of an interlaboratory study

Abstract This paper reports the results of an international interlaboratory study led by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on the measurement of high-pressure surface excess methane adsorption isotherms on NIST Reference Material RM 8850 (Zeolite Y), at 25 °C up to 7.5 MPa. Twenty laboratories participated in the study and contributed over one-hundred adsorption isotherms of methane on Zeolite Y. From these data, an empirical reference equation was determined, along with a 95% uncertainty interval ( U k =2 ). By requiring participants to replicate a high-pressure reference isotherm for carbon dioxide adsorption on NIST Reference Material RM 8852 (ZSM-5), this interlaboratory study also demonstrated the usefulness of reference isotherms in evaluating the performance of high-pressure adsorption experiments.

Precise ${dd}$ excitations and commensurate intersite Coulomb interactions in the dissimilar cuprates YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7–y and La 2–x Sr x CuO 4

Using high-resolution extreme ultraviolet resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (EUVRIXS) spectroscopy at Cu M-edge, we observed the doping dependent spectral shifts of inter-orbital (${dd}$) excitations of YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7-y and La 2-x Sr x CuO 4 . With increasing hole doping level from undoped to optimally doped superconducting compositions, the leading edge of ${dd}$ excitations is found to shift towards lower energy loss in a roughly linear trend that is irrespective to the cuprate species. The magnitude of energy shift can be explained by including a 0.15 eV Coulomb attraction between Cu 3d(x 2 -y 2 ) electrons and the doped holes on the surrounding oxygens in the atomic multiplet calculations. Finally, the consistent energy shift between distinct cuprate families suggests that this inter-site Coulomb interaction energy scale is relatively material-independent, and provides an important reference point for understanding charge density wave phenomena in the cuprate phase diagram.

Pseudospin-doublet bands and Gallagher Moszkowski doublet bands in 100 Y

New transitions in neutron-rich 100 Y have been identified in a 9 Be + 238 U experiment with mass and Z gates to provide full fragment identification. These transitions and high spin levels of 100 Y have been investigated by analyzing the high statistics γ–γ–γ and γ–γ–γ–γ coincidence data from the spontaneous fission of 252 Cf at the Gammasphere detector array. Two new bands, 14 new levels, and 23 new transitions have been identified. The K π = 4 + new band decaying to a 1s isomeric state is assigned to be the high-K Gallagher-Moszkowski (GM) partner of the known K π = 1 + band, with the π5/2[522]Ⓧν3/2[411] configuration. This 4 + band is also proposed to be the pseudospin partner of the new K π = 5 + band with a 5 + π5/2[422] Ⓧ ν5/2[413] configuration, to form a π5/2[422] Ⓧ ν[3125/2,3/2] neutron pseudospin doublet. Here, constrained triaxial covariant density-functional theory and quantal particle rotor model calculations have been applied to interpret the band structure and available electromagnetic transition probabilities and are found to be in good agreement with experimental values.

Vibration Fixture Design and Testing for Rigid - Y Cable Mount on MMRTG F4

INL is responsible for the fueling and testing of Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators for NASA space missions. For the upcoming NASA mission "DRAGONFLY," INL is tasked with fueling and testing the Multi-Mission Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator F4 (MMRTG F4). This involves conducting various tests, such as vibration testing and mass properties testing. For these tests, an interface is required between the MMRTG and the testing equipment, provided by cables mounted on a legacy bracket. Due to design changes in the cooling lines, a new cable – the Rigid Y cable – is to be used. The test described in this poster was to verify if the Rigid Y cable would survive the vibration tests. The results will determine the procedure for conducting the vibration tests on the MMRTG F4.
