AmeriFlux FLUXNET-1F US-MMS Morgan Monroe State Forest

This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site US-MMS Morgan Monroe State Forest. This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site US-MMS Morgan Monroe State Forest produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - Owned by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), the Morgan Monroe State Forest, the site's namesake, is operated thanks to the long-term agreement between Indiana University and IDNR. The first settlers cleared the surrounding ridges for farming, but were largely unsuccessful. The state of Indiana purchased the land in 1929, creating the Morgan Monroe State Forest. Many of the trees in the tower footprint are 60-80 years old, surviving selective logging that ended over the past 10 years. Today, the forest is a secondary successional broadleaf forest within the maple-beech to oak hickory transition zone of the eastern deciduous forest.

AmeriFlux FLUXNET-1F US-KFS Kansas Field Station

This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site US-KFS Kansas Field Station. This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site US-KFS Kansas Field Station produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - The study is an abandoned grassland at the Kansas Field Station and Ecological Reserves. The site is located within the tallgrass prairie-deciduous forest ecotonal area. The site was subjected to intensive agriculture from the 1940s through the late 1960s. In the mid-1970s, the site was planted with the cool-season grass Bromus inermis and used as a hay meadow until 1987. Then, mowing and burning approximately every five years maintained it as a grassland until 2007, when the eddy flux tower was installed.

AmeriFlux US-CLF Cole Farm

This is the AmeriFlux version of the carbon flux data for the site US-CLF Cole Farm. Site Description - The Cole Farm catchment (0.65km2) is located ~ 4 km southwest of the Shale Hills site, draining orthogonally to a syncline axis of the Wills Creek Formation, a calcareous shale containing interbedded siltstone, sandstone, shaly limestone, and dolomite. Even though the farm adopted no-till practices in the 1970s, the axial channel of Cole Farm flows over a thick (>2.5 m) package of sediment in the valley floor. Soils range in texture from silty clay at the ridge top to sandy loam in the valley floor. Data was collected and funded by the Critical Zone Observatory Network.

AmeriFlux FLUXNET-1F US-Ton Tonzi Ranch

This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site US-Ton Tonzi Ranch. This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site US-Ton Tonzi Ranch produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - The Tonzi Ranch is located on the lower foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The site is classified as an oak savanna woodland (Davis et al, 2016) and is situated on privately owned land. This site is representative of the oak savanna ecosystem that rings the Great Central Valley of California and inhabits the lower reaches of the Sierra Nevada foothills. This ecosystem is a natural laboratory for studying how ecosystem scale carbon and water fluxes respond to environmental change. The temperatures range between 0 and 40 C, the autumn, winter and spring are wet and cool, while the summer growing season is hot, dry and rainless. The overstory is dominated by blue oak trees (40% of total vegetation) with intermittent grey pine trees (3 trees/ha). Understory species include a variety of grasses and herbs, including purple false brome, smooth cat's ear, and rose clover. These two distinctive layers operate in and out of phase from one another. Growing season of the understory is confined to the wet season only, typically from October to early May. In contrast, the deciduous blue oak trees are dormant and leafless during the rainy winter months. The trees tend to leaf out in March and reach maximum LAI in April. During the rainless summers, the grasses in the understory die and the leaves experience soil moisture deficit stress References Davis, F., et al. (2016). "Oak woodlands." Ecosystems of California: 509–529.

Site Description - Precipitation during the NAM season (July–September) is approximately 76% of the annual total at the site (Vivoni, Rodríguez, et al., 2010) leading to a peak in vegetation greenness in the month of August (Méndez‐Barroso et al., 2009). Site vegetation is composed of drought‐deciduous trees and shrubs, including torote papelío (Jatropha cordata), tree ocotillo (Fouquieria macdougalii), acacia (Acacia cochliacantha), palo verde (Parkinsonia praecox), Mexican mimosa (Mimosa distachya), and velvet mesquite (Prosopis velutina) as well as organpipe cactus (Stenocereus thurberi).

AmeriFlux FLUXNET-1F US-Tw4 Twitchell East End Wetland

This is the AmeriFlux Management Project (AMP) created FLUXNET-1F version of the carbon flux data for the site US-Tw4 Twitchell East End Wetland. This is the FLUXNET version of the carbon flux data for the site US-Tw4 Twitchell East End Wetland produced by applying the standard ONEFlux (1F) software. Site Description - The Twitchell East End Wetland is a newly constructed restored wetland on Twitchell Island, CA. This site and the surrounding region are part of the San Joaquin - Sacramento River Delta drained beginning in the 1850's and subsequently used for agriculture. The site was previously a corn field. The wetland was designed to have a mix of vegetated and open water channels and ponds (due to surface elevation differences). Flooding of the wetland was done gradually beginning in January, 2014. Berms wind throughout the wetland to allow vehicle access. Tule and Cattail plant material from a nearby wetland were spread along the berms immediately prior to flooding to facilitate plant establishment and stabilization of the berms from wind/water erosion. The tower was installed on November 25, 2013.
