Running the gamut of high energy nuclear collisions

We present calculations of bulk properties and multiparticle correlations in a large variety of collision systems within a hybrid formalism consisting of IP-Glasma initial conditions, Music viscous relativistic hydrodynamics, and UrQMD microscopic hadronic transport. In particular, we study heavy ion collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), including Pb + Pb, Xe + Xe, and O + O collisions, and Au + Au, U + U, Ru + Ru, Zr + Zr, and O + O collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). We further study asymmetric systems, including p + Au, d + Au, 3 He + Au, and p + Pb collisions at various energies as well as p+p collisions at 0.5 and 13 TeV. Here, we describe experimental observables in all heavy ion systems well with one fixed set of parameters, validating the energy and system dependence of the framework. As a result, many observables in the smaller systems are also well described, although they test the limits of the model.

Rapidity evolution of TMDs with running coupling

The scale of a coupling constant for rapidity-only evolution of transverse-momentum dependent (TMD) operators in the Sudakov kinematic region is calculated using the Brodsky-Lepage-Mackenzie optimal scale setting [S. J. Brodsky et al ., Phys. Rev. D 28, 228 (1983).]. The effective argument of a coupling constant is halfway in the logarithmical scale between the transverse momentum and energy of TMD distribution. The resulting rapidity-only evolution equation is solved for quark and gluon TMDs.

Statistical Combination of ATLAS Run 2 Searches for Charginos and Neutralinos at the LHC

Statistical combinations of searches for charginos and neutralinos using various decay channels are performed using 139 fb −1 of 𝑝⁢𝑝 collision data at $\sqrt{𝑠}$ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Searches targeting pure-wino chargino pair production, pure-wino chargino-neutralino production, or Higgsino production decaying via standard model 𝑊, 𝑍, or ℎ bosons are combined to extend the mass reach to the produced supersymmetric particles by 30–100 GeV. The depth of the sensitivity of the original searches is also improved by the combinations, lowering the 95% C.L. cross-section upper limits by 15%–40%.

QCD Running Coupling in the Nonperturbative and Near-Perturbative Regimes

We use analytic continuation to extend the gauge-gravity duality nonperturbative description of the strong force coupling into the transition, near-perturbative, regime where perturbative effects become important. By excluding the unphysical region in coupling space from the flow of singularities in the complex plane, we derive a specific relation between the scales relevant at large and short distances; this relation is uniquely fixed by requiring maximal analyticity. The unified effective coupling model gives an accurate description of the data in the nonperturbative and the near-perturbative regions.
