Biosensors are devices used to detect the presence/concentration of a biological analyte. Biosensors consist of three parts: 1) a component that recognizes the analyte and produces a signal, 2) a signal transducer, and 3) a reader device. A multiplexed biosensor combines different biosensors for increased detection capabilities.
A digital twin is a virtual representation of a physical system or object using real-time data that can predict and analyze how the system or object performs. This relatively new technology can be applied to the field of nuclear power generation, to aid in the design and development of new nuclear power plants and reduce operation costs using predictive maintenance and other data analytical methods. While there are already companies utilizing simulation software to train operators and technicians in the nuclear industry, some are now transitioning to utilizing their existing technology, software, and methods to develop digital twin solutions for the next generation of nuclear power plants, offering their services to utilities and government organizations around the world.

We successfully achieved all the goals outlined in this grant, culminating in a comprehensive training program conducted across three locations and a regional remote exercise. The training sessions took place from May 28-30, 2024, followed by the regional exercise on June 5, 2024.
There is a critical need for new approaches to effectively counter emerging pathogens, especially those which do not respond to antibodies or antibiotics. T cells represent an essential element of native immune response in many of the deadliest pathogens: controlling T cell reactivity and behavior would allow for countermeasures for currently untreatable diseases from cancer to coronaviruses, especially if using a patient’s own T cells (autologous) where no host rejection will occur. However, current methods for modifying T cells, e.g., FDA-approved chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR) approaches, require genetic manipulation and expansion which can take weeks to generate.
