TLS characterization using multilevel decay of a fixed-frequency transmon

Transmon qubits are a cornerstone of superconducting quantum computing platforms, yet their coherence times often exhibit temporal fluctuations that degrade processor performance. These variations are commonly attributed to shifts in the resonance frequencies of individual two-level systems (TLSs) near the qubit transition. In this study, we monitor the lifetimes of multiple energy levels of a fixed-frequency transmon and examine their temporal correlations. Our measurements reveal that one or more TLSs—detuned by more than 100 MHz from the qubit transition—can still significantly influence coherence. The proposed method provides a powerful tool for TLS spectroscopy without the need to tune the transmon frequency, either via a flux-tunable inductor or AC-Stark shifts.

Computerized multilevel analysis for multilayered fiber composites

A FORTRAN 4 computer code for the micromechanics, macromechanics, and laminate analysis of multilayered fiber composite structural components is described. The code can be used either individually or as a subroutine within a complex structural analysis/synthesis program. The inputs to the code are constituent materials properties, composite geometry, and loading conditions. The outputs are various properties for ply and composite; composite structural response, including bending-stretching coupling; and composite stress analysis, including comparisons with failure criteria for combined stress. The code was used successfully in the analysis and structural synthesis of flat panels, in the buckling analysis of flat panels, in multilayered composite material failure studies, and lamination residual stresses analysis.

Interrelated structures of the transport shock and collisional relaxation layer in a multitemperature, multilevel ionized gas

The gas dynamic structures of the transport shock and the downstream collisional relaxation layer are evaluated for partially ionized monatomic gases. Elastic and inelastic collisional nonequilibrium effects are taken into consideration. Three electronic levels are accounted for in the microscopic model of the atom. Nonequilibrium processes with respect to population of levels and species plus temperature are considered. By using an asymptotic technique the shock morphology is found on a continuum flow basis. The asymptotic procedure gives two distinct layers in which the nonequilibrium effects to be considered are different. A transport shock appears as the inner solution to an outer collisional relaxation layer in which the gas reaches local equilibrium. A family of numerical examples is displayed for different flow regimes. Argon and helium models are used in these examples.

Computerized multilevel analysis for multilayered fiber composites.
