A computer-implemented method comprises receiving a plurality of sampled data points, each data point including a y value and a t value; defining an array of bins, each bin identified by a unique number and including histogram data for a range of y values; for each consecutive pair of data points including a current data point and a next data point, determining a corresponding one of a plurality of linear equations, each linear equation defining a line between the current data point and the next data point; for each line, determining an amount of time that the y value of the line is within the range of values for each bin from the current data point to the next data point; and adding the time to the histogram data for each bin.

Ultrasound tomography imaging methods for imaging a tissue medium with one or more ultrasound transducer arrays comprising a plurality of transducers, wherein said transducers comprise source transducers, receiving transducers. The methods include assigning a phase value or time delay to source transducers, exciting the transducers and calculating a search direction based on data relating to the excited transducers.
Synthetic-aperture ultrasound tomography systems and methods using scanning arrays and algorithms configured to simultaneously acquire ultrasound transmission and reflection data, and process the data for improved ultrasound tomography imaging, wherein the tomography imaging comprises total-variation regularization, or a modified total variation regularization, particularly with edge-guided or spatially variant regularization.

aA lookup table based lossless data compression scheme suitable for FPGA implementation, with very low silicon resource usage, is developed. Different algorithms can be implemented by simply changing the contents of the lookup tables in the functional block while keeping the logic circuits unchanged. It exhibits performance comparable to the zip compression software in Linux distributions. The compression block can fit into almost any existing FPGA used in the online data acquisition systems of high energy physics experiments. The decompression process can be performed in either software or in FPGA firmware, allowing users to process compressed data flexibly.
