Summary of spin technology as related to light general-aviation airplanes

A summary was made of all NASA (and NACA) research and experience related to the spin and recovery characteristics of light personal-owner-type general-aviation airplanes. Very little of the research deals with light general-aviation airplanes as such, but many of the airplanes and models tested before and during World War II were similar to present-day light general-aviation airplanes with regard to the factors that are important in spinning. The material is based mainly on the results of spin-tunnel tests of free-spinning dynamically scaled models of about 100 different airplane designs and, whenever possible, includes correlation with full-scale spin tests. The research results are discussed in terms of airplane design considerations and the proper use of controls for recovery.

Support requirements for remote sensor systems on unmanned planetary missions. Appendix A: Support requirement summary tables, phase 3

An appendix containing one page summary tables of sensor observation objectives, measurement capabilities, support requirments, and worth values is presented. Tables are arranged according to (1) sensor type number, (2) flyby mission number, (3) for multi-planet missions, in order of increasing distance from the sun, (4) for orbiter mission, by planets in order of increasing distance from the sun, and (5) by orbit number.

Modular space station phase B extension period executive summary

A narrative summary is presented of technical, programmatic, and planning information developed during the space station definition study extension period. The modular space station is emphasized, but tasks pertaining to shuttle sorties missions and information management advanced development are included. A series of program options considering technical, schedule, and programmatic alternatives to the baseline program are defined and evaluated.

Reference earth orbital research and applications investigations (blue book). Volume 1: Summary

The criteria, guidelines, and an organized approach for use in the space station and space shuttle program definition phase are presented. Subjects discussed are: (1) background information and evolution of the studies, (2) definition of terms used, (3) concepts of the space shuttle, space station, experiment modules, shuttle-sortie operations and modular space station, and (4) summary of functional program element (FPE) requirements. Diagrams of the various configurations and the experimental equipment to be installed in the structures are included.
