Draft genome sequence of Yarrowia lipolytica NRRL Y-64008, an oleaginous yeast capable of growing on lignocellulosic hydrolysates

ABSTRACT Yarrowia lipolytica is an oleaginous yeast that produces high titers of fatty acid-derived biofuels and biochemicals. It can grow on hydrophobic carbon sources and lignocellulosic hydrolysates. The genome sequence of Y. lipolytica NRRL Y-64008 is reported to aid in its development as a biotechnological chassis for producing biofuels and bioproducts.

High-quality draft genome sequence of Thermobifida halotolerans DSM 44931

Here, we report the genome sequence of Thermobifida halotolerans DSM 44931, a bacterium that was originally isolated from a salt mine in the Yunnan Province of China. This genome was sequenced using Pacific Biosciences sequencing technology and was assembled into 2 contigs in 2 scaffolds. It has a total length of 5,506,851 bp and a GC content of 71.16%. Functional annotation of this genome provides further metabolic insight into this species.

Draft Genome Sequence of Pseudenhygromyxa sp. Strain WMMC2535, a Marine Ascidian-Associated Bacterium

Pseudenhygromyxa WMMC2535, a representative of the myxobacteria (family Nannocystaceae ), was isolated from a ragged sea hare in the Florida Keys, and its genome was sequenced using PacBio technology. The WMMC2535 genome sequence is the first of this genus and validates the notion that myxobacteria represent outstanding sources of structurally diverse natural products.

Friend or Foe: Draft Genome Sequence of Bradyrhizobium sp. Strain SRS-191

We report the genomic features of Bradyrhizobium sp. strain SRS-191, which was isolated from a former nuclear legacy site in Aiken, South Carolina, USA. With a genome size of 7,621,400 bp, the strain harbored genes not only for environmentally beneficial traits (e.g., heavy metal resistance, nitrogen fixation, and aromatic biodegradation) but also for antimicrobial resistance.

Draft Genome Sequence of the Ectomycorrhizal Ascomycete Sphaerosporella brunnea

Sphaerosporella brunnea is a pioneer ectomycorrhizal fungus with facultative saprophytic capacities. Here, we sequenced the genome of S. brunnea strain Sb_GMNB300, which is estimated at 51.6 Mb in size with 872 assembled contigs accounting for 12,597 predicted coding genes. This genome will be useful for comparative studies of Pezizales ectomycorrhizal symbioses.

High-Quality Draft Genome Sequences of Eight Bacteria Isolated from Fungus Gardens Grown by Trachymyrmex septentrionalis Ants

For their food source, Trachymyrmex septentrionalis ants raise symbiotic fungus gardens that contain bacteria whose functions are poorly understood. Here, we report the genome sequences of eight bacteria isolated from these fungus gardens to better describe the ecology of these strains and their potential to produce secondary metabolites in this niche.

Draft genome of the switchgrass head smut pathogen Tilletia maclaganii

Tilletia maclaganii is a smut fungal pathogen that causes significant biomass reduction of switchgrass ( Panicum virgatum ) used for animal forage and biofuel production. Here we present the annotated genome of T. maclaganii , strain Tm001-NY21, estimated at 42.79 Mb in size, in 53 assembled contigs and encoding 10,235 predicted genes. This genome will be important for future comparative studies of Ustilaginales across its geographic and host range.

Draft Genome Assemblies of Five Robust Yarrowia lipolytica Strains Exhibiting High Lipid Production, Pentose Sugar Utilization, and Sugar Alcohol Secretion from Undetoxified Lignocellulosic Biomass Hydrolysates

Screening the genetic diversity of 45 Yarrowia lipolytica strains identified five candidates with unique metabolic capability and robustness in undetoxified switchgrass hydrolysates, including superior lipid production and efficient pentose sugar utilization. Here, we report the genome sequences of these strains to study their robustness and potential to produce fuels and chemicals.
