Surface Acoustic Wave Tag-Based Coherence Multiplexing

A surface acoustic wave (SAW)-based coherence multiplexing system includes SAW tags each including a SAW transducer, a first SAW reflector positioned a first distance from the SAW transducer and a second SAW reflector positioned a second distance from the SAW transducer. A transceiver including a wireless transmitter has a signal source providing a source signal and circuitry for transmitting interrogation pulses including a first and a second interrogation pulse toward the SAW tags, and a wireless receiver for receiving and processing response signals from the SAW tags. The receiver receives scrambled signals including a convolution of the wideband interrogation pulses with response signals from the SAW tags and includes a computing device which implements an algorithm that correlates the interrogation pulses or the source signal before transmitting against the scrambled signals to generate tag responses for each of the SAW tags.

Method of Stamping Surface-Enhance Raman Spectroscopy for Label-Free, Multiplexed, Molecular Sensing and Imaging

The present disclosure relates the use of a stamping surface enhanced Raman scattering (S-SERS) technique with nanoporous gold disk (NPGD) plasmonic substrates to produce a label-free, multiplexed molecular sensing and imaging technique. A NPGD SERS substrate is stamped onto a surface containing one or more target molecules, followed by SERS measurement of the target molecules located between the surface and SERS substrate. The target molecules may be deposited on the surface, which may be a carrier substrate such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS).

Lunar Dust Capture Using a Novel, Multiplexed Inertial Filter

Multiplexed inertial filtration is new. It holds promise to capture and contain lunar dust with less pressure drop. Even when the filter contains significant amounts of captured lunar dust, the pressure drop remains relatively low. State of the art vacuum cleaners use a system with 4 different filter: they can contain large amounts of lunar dust and maintain low pressure drop, but because they require 4 filters, the system size is relatively large. State of the are miniature vacuum cleaners are small, but the single in-line depth filter clogs easily. The goal of this CIF project is to develop a lunar dust vacuum cleaner <1000 cc in size, with high capacity and low dP.

Television multiplexing system

System with single, standard, wideband line transmits ten or more real time TV video data displays over hard wire to recorders more than 22.5 km from source. Digital logic and integrated circuits ensure high reliability and low maintenance. System is adaptable for video sampling applications.

Doubly multiplexing dispersive spectrometer.

Description of a spectrometer that incorporates 19 entrances and 19 exit slots. The instrument's dual capability to perform either one-dimensional imaging or alternately to give a spectrum with a high SNR over the entire source is shown. The instrument operates in the Littrow mode at f/8. The slot width and length for each mask are 0.625 and 3.5 mm, respectively, giving a total aperture length of 12.1 mm. The corresponding resolving power at 1.7 microns is 230.

Gaussian and click noise in an FM/FM multiplex receiver.

An FM/FM system is one in which the signal information frequency modulates a subcarrier, which, in turn, frequency modulates a main carrier for transmission. The detection process then involves two frequency demodulators in sequence. Using Rice's click model for both FM demodulators, we obtain the average click rate and an approximate output spectrum that include the effect of the impulses generated by the carrier demodulator on the subcarrier demodulation at and below threshold. We then focus on the threshold behavior of these systems and the proportioning of their modulation parameters so as to provide certain desired characteristics. We find that due to the filtering action of the second demodulator, the number of output clicks from carrier generated spikes can be orders of magnitude smaller, yet their contribution to the output noise can be much greater than that produced by the first demodulation.

Data multiplexer using a tree switch

Self-decoding FET-hybrid or integrated-circuit tree configuration uses minimum number of components and can be sequenced by clock or computer. Redundancy features can readily be incorporated into tree configuration; as tree grows in size and more sensors are included, percentage of parts that will affect given percentage of sensors steadily decreases.

Frequency division multiplex technique

A system for monitoring a plurality of condition responsive devices is described. It consists of a master control station and a remote station. The master control station is capable of transmitting command signals which includes a parity signal to a remote station which transmits the signals back to the command station so that such can be compared with the original signals in order to determine if there are any transmission errors. The system utilizes frequency sources which are 1.21 multiples of each other so that no linear combination of any harmonics will interfere with another frequency.

Frequency division multiplexer code 04236, serial no. 001, phase 2

Design principles and test results of modifications to two wideband channels, 8 kHz DS located at 44kHz and 16 kHz SSB located at 104 kHz, are given. Data cover power supply modifications, wideband operational amplifiers, trade-off to determine requirements for precision components, printed circuit board layout, applicability of original equipment specification No. 110438, and optimum wideband channel design.

Capacity degradation due to interleaving and multiplexing

The capacity of an M-ary channel with N-ary coding is computed. It is found that the capacity of a very noisy channel is reduced by the factor (N-1)(log M)/(M-1)(log N). The results are applied to channels with noncoherent multifrequency shift keying and to concatenation of codes and interleaving.
