2003 Interstate 595 Vehicle Trip-Length Study

# 2003 Interstate 595 Vehicle Trip-Length Study The 2003 Vehicle Trip-Length Study focused on Interstate 595 between Davie Road and University Drive in Florida. Survey participants answered questions about their trip's origin and destination—including the type of location such as work, home, store, etc.—the on- and off-ramps used, how many people were in the car, and the type of vehicle. The survey also collected household demographic data such as annual household income, available vehicles, the number of people living in their household, and the number of workers in their household above the age of 16. It also asked if they would use proposed bus-only lanes or train service along the corridor, if available. ## Data Collection Agency The survey was conducted by and for the Florida Department of Transportation. ## Survey Methodology The survey was conducted via mail and online in March 2003. ## Survey Records, Data, and Documentation Survey records include 7,917 participants. Origin and destination locations include street addresses, nearest intersections or landmarks, city, state, zip code, and latitude/longitude.

2009 Interstate 95 Express Phase 1A Survey

# 2009 Interstate 95 Express Phase 1A Survey The 2009 Phase 1A Survey focused on commuters using Interstate 95 express lanes between downtown Miami and the Golden Glades Interchange in Florida. Survey participants answered questions about their trip's purpose, frequency, and mode as well as demographics such as their age, race/ethnicity, and income. It also asked if and why or why not they had used Interstate 95 before and/or after the installation of two high-occupancy toll lanes, if they were satisfied with the upgrade, and about their related perceptions of safety. ## Data Collection Agency The survey was conducted by and for the Florida Department of Transportation. ## Survey Methodology The survey was conducted online in May 2009. ## Survey Records, Data, and Documentation Survey records include 9,156 participants.

2012 California Household Travel Survey Supplement

# 2012 California Household Travel Survey Supplement The 2012 California Household Travel Survey Supplement focused on gathering specific travel information from residents for the development of next-generation, activity-based models. Called the "Augment Survey," it supplemented the [2010–2012 California Household Travel Survey](https://www.nrel.gov/transportation/secure-transportation-data/tsdc-california-travel-survey). ## Data Collection Agency The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) hired Abt-SRBI, Inc. to conduct the survey. ## Methodology Travel data were collected from households via in-vehicle (625 vehicles) and wearable (244 participants) global positioning system (GPS) devices. ## Drive Cycle Processing and Filtering NREL has developed a GPS data filtration routine to filter erroneous data points in individual drive cycles sourced from GPS devices mounted in vehicles. Second-by-second drive cycle data collected from GPS-instrumented vehicles during this survey have passed through NREL's drive cycle processing and filtering routines. ## Survey Records Study records include 473 households. ## Transportation Data The SCAG data set contains data from 473 households that participated in one or more areas of study. Of these, 141 completed the wearable GPS portion of the study and 332 completed the vehicle GPS portion. There was no overlap between households participating in the two study areas (wearable and vehicle GPS). 2013 Metropolitan Area Planning Agency External Travel Survey

# 2013 Metropolitan Area Planning Agency External Travel Survey The 2013 Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA) External Travel Survey was conducted to measure and identify travel patterns into, within, and out of the greater Omaha/Council Bluffs metropolitan area in Nebraska. MAPA sponsored the survey in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration, the Nebraska Department of Roads, and the Iowa Department of Transportation. ## Data Collection Agency MAPA conducted the survey. ## Methodology The purpose of the survey was to collect information and data needed as input for MAPA’s travel-demand model. The survey employed a combination of nine survey methods and data-collection activities, including Bluetooth technology, intercept surveys, postcard handouts, travel-time studies, vehicle classification counts, and a web-based survey. ## Survey Records Survey records include a total of 729 participants. ## Transportation Data This study provides Bluetooth records and supplementary data for 17,434 passenger trips and 3,123 commercial trips, accounting for 714,218 vehicle miles traveled.
