Scintillator Manufacture
Abstract
This paper will be a literature review of composite scintillators, and their applications in neutron detection. Due to the shortage of 3 He, the traditional medium for neutron detection, new materials need to be explored for this purpose. Composite scintillating particle materials can serve as a solution to replace 3 He, offering faster response times, and all-solid-state form factors for diversified applications in the field. This project will include manufacturing Europium (Eu) and Sodium (Na) doped LiCaAlF 6 (LiCAF) scintillating particles for neutron detection.
