Pump Development for Fusion-Based Neutron Generators
Abstract
Tritium usage in fusion-based neutron generators is low for each pulse. This requires the deuterium/tritium mixture to be evacuated and recycled during downtime or to remove the helium buildup. Because of the pressure ranges and to minimize space, turbomolecular pumps are being considered for the tritium recirculation pumps. Two main types were initially considered: Agilent TwisTorr and Osaka TG-MR.
