Materials Data on Rb2Cd2O3 by Materials Project
Abstract
Rb2Cd2O3 crystallizes in the monoclinic P2_1/c space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Rb1+ is bonded in a 5-coordinate geometry to five O2- atoms. There are a spread of Rb–O bond distances ranging from 2.83–3.33 Å. Cd2+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form a mixture of corner and edge-sharing CdO4 tetrahedra. There are a spread of Cd–O bond distances ranging from 2.20–2.30 Å. There are two inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Rb1+ and three equivalent Cd2+ atoms. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded to four equivalent Rb1+ and two equivalent Cd2+ atoms to form corner-sharing ORb4Cd2 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 59°.
