Current Control for Scorpius
Abstract
There is a need to control the current produced by the Scorpius injector. Reduced beam current aids beam transport, reduces instability growth, mitigates spot-size enlargement due to beam-target interactions, and reduces reflections caused by beam loading of the cells. A method for reducing beam current without major impact on operations or major hardware replacement has been explored through simulations, the results of which are presented.
