Experimental Nuclear Structure Studies
Abstract
The objective of the research project is to obtain a better understanding of the structure and stability of nuclei at the limits of excitation energy, angular momentum, deformation, and isospin through experimental investigations. Majority of our experimental measurements were carried out using the "Gammasphere" Compton-suppressed germanium spectrometer array, the most powerful gamma-ray facility currently in the world, which enables us to investigate the phenomena that could not be studied before. These issues are closely related to the long-term goals outlined in the "Nuclear Science Advisory Committee Long-Range Plan" developed jointly by US Department of Energy and National Science Foundation.
