Exploring the Solar System
Abstract
This viewgraph presentation profiles several emerging propulsion technologies with promise for missions to explore the solar system. These technologies may reduce cost, mass, and/or travel times, and include: aerocapture, ion propulsion, solar electric and solar thermal propulsion, solar sails, momentum exchange tethers, and plasma sails. These technologies are rated in terms of priority and profiled, along with possible missions utilizing these technologies.
