Lidar for expendable launch vehicles
Abstract
A lidar wind measurement system is described which can be used as an alternative to the current Jimsphere/Rawinsonde method. The decrease in wind measurement time provides significant benefits to launch vehicle operations. The faster acquisition time associated with the lidar system provides better estimates of wind persistency and gust prediction.
