Flexure Test For Off-Axis Unidirectional Composites
Abstract
Improved flexure test yields data on ply strength of off-axis unidirectional composite material. Rotatable end supports allow ends of specimen to twist freely. End supports apply only vertical loads, making simple three-point bending test. Ply-strength data provide basis for predicting onset of damage in composite structures and serve as measure of fiber-matrix adhesion.
