Fiber Jackets For Vibration-Damping Struts
Abstract
Jacket of braided fibers fastens to structural joints at ends of strut. Carries excessive tensile loads, partly bypassing strut. Friction between braided fibers gives rise to hysteresis in stress-versus-strain behavior of jacket. Hysteresis enhances absorption of large vibrations.
