Upper bound on Parity breaking scale for doublet WIMP dark matter

A bstract We consider weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) dark matter in a Parity solution to the strong CP problem. The WIMP phenomenology can be drastically affected by the presence of Parity partners of the WIMP and electroweak gauge bosons. We focus on a Parity extension of SU(2) L -doublet fermion dark matter, identify the viable parameter space, and derive the predictions of the theory. We find that the Parity symmetry breaking scale is bounded from above, with the bound given by 25–60 TeV, depending on whether or not dark matter and its Parity partner coannihilate with each other. The High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider, future colliders, and direct and indirect detection experiments can probe the parameter space further, with correlated signal rates.

Spectral and small-signal electroluminescence analysis of carrier dynamics in dual-color InGaN/GaN light-emitting diodes

Here, we study carrier transport, distribution, and recombination in dual-color c-plane InGaN/GaN LEDs using spectral analysis and small-signal electroluminescence (SSEL). The emissions from green and blue quantum wells (QWs) were experimentally separated and analyzed. Spectral analysis and SSEL independently demonstrate that emission from the green QW is dominant at low current densities, consistent with its narrower bandgap, while emission from the blue QW is more significant at higher current densities, consistent with its reduced quantum confined Stark effect and larger wavefunction overlap. In addition, we demonstrate that the carrier recombination in the QWs is non-uniform, with carrier transport dramatically affecting the carrier distribution between QWs and the recombination in a specific QW. Finally, our measurements suggest that the effective active region contributing most strongly to radiative recombination corresponds to approximately two to three QWs on the p-GaN side, indicating limited carrier transport to more distant QWs in the structures studied.

Primordial black hole dark matter: A quantitative parameter sensitivity comparison across formation mechanisms and particle candidates

Primordial black holes (PBHs) in the asteroid-mass window ( 10 17 – 10 22 g ) can account for all of the dark matter without violating any observational constraint, yet are routinely dismissed as fine-tuned. I put that dismissal to the test by applying three complementary sensitivity measures uniformly across a broad landscape: three noninflationary PBH production mechanisms, six classes of inflationary PBH models, and seven particle dark matter benchmarks, all evaluated against the same observable target. Three distinct naturalness universality classes emerge, determined entirely by the analytic structure of the abundance map rather than by the nature of the dark matter candidate. Biased-domain-wall PBHs, in their least model-dependent (free- V b ) form, have the same low sensitivity, Δ = 4.5 , as off-resonance weakly interacting massive particles and freeze-in particles ( Δ = 2 ), a sensitivity that, because it is constant over the entire parameter space of the construction, also coincides trivially with its own Wilson-normalized average within that parameter space (Section Definition and conventions), an equivalence that concerns only the space over which Δ is computed and is not a naturalness statement about the construction as a whole; a further reduction to Δ = 2 is possible only under the additional, independently motivated but not required, assumption that the domain-wall bias is generated by Planck-suppressed operators; early matter-domination PBHs occupy an intermediate tier alongside coannihilating weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs), unified by a structural identity in which the sensitivity measure equals the logarithm of the ratio of the formation scale to the matter–radiation equality scale; first-order phase transition PBHs, once the more accurate super-exponential collapse probability is used in place of the single-exponential approximation, instead belong to the same highly sensitive tier as resonant WIMP annihilation and single-field inflationary collapse, for a structurally distinct reason; single-field ultraslow-roll inflationary collapse is severely tuned for a distinct reason: a double exponential in which the power spectrum amplitude is itself exponentially sensitive to the inflaton potential coefficients, on top of the exponential collapse sensitivity of the abundance map. My main conclusion is that the claim that PBH dark matter is generically fine-tuned conflates the worst case with a landscape spanning every naturalness tier. The Barbieri-Giudice sensitivity computed here and the Wilson-normalized measure of Iovino and Riotto answer distinct and mutually consistent questions about the same construction, a distinction I clarify within the two-layer decomposition.

Supplemental material for paper "Radiosonde-to-Space (R2S) atmospheric specifications: Bridging observations and models for infrasound propagation"

This document describes the supplemental materials for the paper: TITLE: "Radiosonde-to-Space (R2S) atmospheric specifications: Bridging observations and models for infrasound propagation" DOI: xxxxxxxxxxx JOURNAL: TBD Written by Loring Schaible, September 17, 2025 This folder contains eight subfolders, each for a specific date and UTC time (in format YYYY-MM-DD_HH). All eight of these dates are exemplified and described in the manuscript. Within each folder is six documents. As an example, consider the folder "2022-12-31_00". The six files are comprised of: - Two text files (extension .txt) that describe the atmospheric specifications of Albuquerque, NM. One is the G2S model, the other is the R2S model. "G2S_2022-12-31_00.txt" "R2S_2022-12-31_00.txt" - Two text files (extension .dat) that contain the ground arrivals predicted by infraGA using the parameters described in the manuscript. One each for the two atmospheric specification models above, G2S and R2S. "G2S_2022-12-31_00.arrivals.dat" "R2S_2022-12-31_00.arrivals.dat" - Two image files (extension .png) that illustrate the predicted arrivals contained in the two files above. One image shows all arrivals as either black (G2S) or red (R2S). The other image shows the same but with arrivals common to both models in gray. This dataset includes outputs generated for the journal publication titled: "Investigating the relationship between bolide entry angle and apparent direction of infrasound signal arrivals". The outputs include .csv files with model-generated synthetic trajectories of asteroids entering Earth at a variety of impact and approach (azimuthal) angles. All outputs are based on hypothetical but realistic scenarios.
