Relating β' * and γ' Q * in the $\mathcal{N}$=1 SQCD conformal window

In this paper we show that β' * , the β-function slopes in the electric and magnetic theories, are equal at the corresponding infrared fixed points. This follows from the scaling of the correlators of the trace of the energy momentum tensors. The slopes β' * determine the scaling dimensions. Our paper can be considered as a commentary to D. Anselmi, M. T. Grisaru, and A. Johansen [Nucl. Phys. B491, 221 (1997)]; it proposes an improved derivation not based on a rather contrived construction by D. Kutasov [Phys. Lett. B 351, 230 (1995)], D. Kutasov and A. Schwimmer [Phys. Lett. B 354, 315 (1995)], and D. Kutasov, A. Schwimmer, and N. Seiberg, [Nucl. Phys. B459, 455 (1996)]. As a byproduct we note that γ' Q * —the slopes of the matter superfield anomalous dimension—vanish at both edges of the conformal window where one of the dual theories is strongly coupled. Finally, we determine the two-coupling magnetic fixed point at weak coupling correcting the result of I. I. Kogan, M. A. Shifman, and A. I. Vainshtein [Phys. Rev. D 53, 4526 (1996); Phys. Rev. D59, 109903(E) (1999)].

Flavoured axions in the tail of B q → μ+μ- and B → γ* form factors

We discuss how LHC di-muon data collected to study B q → μμ can be used to constrain light particles with flavour-violating couplings to b -quarks. Focussing on the case of a flavoured QCD axion, a , we compute the decay rates for B q → μμa and the SM background process B q → μμγ near the kinematic endpoint. These rates depend on non-perturbative B q → γ (*) form factors with on- or off-shell photons. The off-shell form factors — relevant for generic searches for beyond-the-SM particles — are discussed in full generality and computed with QCD sum rules for the first time. This includes an extension to the low-lying resonance region using a multiple subtracted dispersion relation. With these results, we analyse available LHCb data to obtain the sensitivity on B q → μμa at present and future runs. We find that the full LHCb dataset alone will allow to probe axion-coupling scales of the order of 10 6 GeV for both b → d and b → s transitions. As a spin-off application of the off-shell form factors we further analyse the case of light, Beyond the Standard Model, vectors.

Three exceptions to the Grossman-Nir bound

A bstract We show that the Grossman-Nir (GN) bound, Br( K L → $$ {\pi}^0\nu \overline{\nu} $$ π 0 ν ν ¯ ) ≤ 4 . 3 Br( K + → $$ {\pi}^{+}\nu \overline{\nu} $$ π + ν ν ¯ ), can be violated in the presence of light new physics with flavor violating couplings. We construct three sample models in which the GN bound can be violated by orders of magnitude, while satisfying all other experimental bounds. In the three models the enhanced branching ratio Br( K L → π 0 + inv) is due to K L → π 0 Φ 1, K L → π 0 Φ 1 Φ 1 , K L → $$ {\pi}^0{\psi}_1{\overline{\psi}}_1 $$ π 0 ψ 1 ψ ¯ 1 transitions, respectively, where Φ 1 ( ψ 1 ) is a light scalar (fermion) that escapes the detector. In the three models Br( K + → π + + inv) remains very close to the SM value, while Br( K L → π 0 + inv) can saturate the present KOTO bound. Besides invisible particles in the final state (which may account for dark matter) the models require additional light mediators around the GeV-scale.
