Aerosol-based sealant can be used to seal air duct leaks. This is done by pressurizing the ducts and injecting the spray sealant. This technology can be used to seal small (up to ½-inch diameter) and inaccessible duct leaks hidden in wall, ceiling, and floor cavities (Ternes and Hwang2001). The aerosol sealant itself is a nontoxic vinyl polymer (Kallett et al. 2000). The technology is a proprietary duct-sealing method developed jointly by the U.S. government and Aeroseal, the company that holds an exclusive license to use the technology (Ternes and Hwang 2001). Specifically, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory developed the aerosol-spray technology with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and others while Aeroseal developed the current version of the equipment and software to apply the technology in practice (Ternes and Hwang 2001).
This report describes cold climate air source heat pump technology. Cold climate air source heat pumps (ccASHPs) are a variation of an existing air conditioning technology - heat pumps - that are designed to heat homes adequately in very cold weather (usually at or below 5 degrees F) and, as a secondary function, cool these homes during warm weather.
As states and local governments weigh how to spur economic growth, stimulate job creation, and simultaneously adapt to meet climate goals, modern energy codes, and energy demand, this report provides a simple and transparent method to estimate the size of the workforce needed to support modeled deployments for energy efficiency in buildings, stationary battery energy storage (BES), solar photovoltaics (PV), and land-based wind in 2025 and 2030. In addition to a straightforward estimation method, this report includes state-level job estimates for two different deployment scenarios: a business-as-usual scenario and a more accelerated deployment scenario. The scope of the technologies included in this report is limited to four key energy technologies within the power sector that have strong job growth prospects and widespread geographic deployment potential. Although the included technologies are not all-encompassing, they have generated specific interest from state energy offices across the nation.
Flexible Financial Credit Agreements is a broad term used to describe a suite of solar products with innovative features not currently offered in traditional solar financing programs. This brief focuses on the Solar Revenues To Retire Arrears model, in which utilities utilize solar revenues to retire utility debts for customers behind on payments.
Flexible Financial Credit Agreements is a broad term used to describe a suite of solar products with innovative features not currently offered in traditional solar financing programs. This brief focuses on the Tariff On-Bill Financing (TOBF) model, in which utilities use a tariff to enable customers to pay back the cost of a solar panel without credit or income level conditions.
