Statistical Sampling Considerations in Multifamily Housing

In the past 30 years, some governmental agencies and private-sector owners of multifamily housing properties have limited radon screening to partial screening (e.g., the testing of a subset of the multifamily housing dwelling units). While sampling methods have differed, most have required that if any one unit was found to be “positive,” or have radon levels ≥4 pCi/L, all remaining untested housing units would be tested (e.g. trip-wire approach).
