Space technology and planetary science, 1950-1985
The development of space technology and planetary science is traced over a 35-year period, with emphasis on their many points of similarity and differences. An overview is presented of major NASA-funded planetary exploration programs and telescopes for planetary astronomy. The effects of the NASA programs on planetary science are discussed.
