System Modeling and Robust Stability Region Analysis for Multi-inverters Based on VSG

As the number of inverter-interfaced distributed generators (IIDGs) increases, the decrease in the inertia of the microgrid affects the stability of microgrid voltage and current. The virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control method simulates the output characteristics of the synchronous machine to improve the inertia and damping of the microgrid. However, low-frequency oscillations can occur in systems with multi-VSGs connected in parallel, primarily when operating in island mode. Therefore, this article develops the small-signal state-space model for multi-inverters based on VSG and analyses the robust stability region (RSR) of the control parameters. Firstly, an extensible small-signal state-space model is established and simplified in the dq axis, which is a necessary preprocessing for the subsequent stability analysis. Secondly, the guardian map method based on bialternate product operation is constructed, and the RSR is established through translation mapping and rotation mapping. Therefore, the solution of RSR is transformed into the problem of identifying the Hurwitz matrix. Finally, the simulations and experiments verify that the calculated region can ensure stable operation during startup and meet the requirement to suppress low-frequency oscillations. In conclusion, the method of solving RSR proposed in this paper provides a basis for selecting controller parameters in practical engineering.

The Integrated Reference Region Analysis for Parallel DFIGs’ Interfacing Inductors

Although the traditional design of doubly-fed induction generators (DFIGs)’ interfacing inductors consider the peak ripple of the grid-side converter (GSC)’s output current, it does not consider the inductors’ impact on DFIGs’ smallsignal stability. Located in series between the GSC and the stator, the inappropriate selection of the interfacing inductor can easily result to system instability. Therefore, this paper first proposes the integrated reference region analysis for small wind farm's interfacing inductors to improve the traditional design method. Firstly, a new detailed parallel DFIGs’ smallsignal model that considers output currents’ coupling is built in d-q coordinate system with state-space approach. The model focuses on representing the operating states of parallel DFIGs in wind farm. Secondly, the linearized state-space matrix of parallel DFIGs is decomposed into nominal-value matrix and location matrix. Considering the traditional design requirements, the integrated reference region for interfacing inductor is proposed through spectral radius and bialternate matrix sum (BMS). Furthermore, it can provide better guidance for parameter selecting and stabilization method researches. Finally, the simulation and experimental results show that the proposed integrated reference region for parallel DFIGs’ interfacing inductors is accurate and instructive.

Digital Twin Empowered PV Power Prediction

The accurate prediction of photovoltaic (PV) power generation is significant to ensure the economic and safe operation of power systems. To this end, the paper proposes a new digital twin (DT) empowered PV power prediction framework that is capable of ensuring reliable data transmission and employing the DT to achieve high accuracy of power prediction. With this framework, considering potential data contamination in the collected PV data, a generative adversarial network is employed to restore the historical data set, which offers a prerequisite to ensure accurate mapping from the physical space to the digital space. Further, a new DT empowered PV power prediction method is proposed. Therein, we model a DT that encompasses a digital physical model for reflecting the physical operation mechanism and a neural network model (i.e., a parallel network of convolution and bidirectional long-short-term memory model) for capturing the hidden spatial-temporal features. The proposed method enables the use of the DT to take advantages of the digital physical model and the neural network model, resulting in enhanced prediction accuracy. Finally, a real data set is conducted to access the effectiveness of the proposed method.
