Automated solvent concentrator

Designed for automated drug identification system (AUDRI), device increases concentration by 100. Sample is first filtered, removing particulate contaminants and reducing water content of sample. Sample is extracted from filtered residue by specific solvent. Concentrator provides input material to analysis subsystem.

Fraction-storage unit for drug-identification system

Device, connecting outputs of all gas chromatographs to single, relatively inexpensive IR spectrometer, reduces costs of system. Storage unit provides buffer storage of samples until infrared spectrometer is ready to accept them. Storage unit can be used to separate overlapping peaks.

Biomedical transducers.

Examples are given of some of the sensors and attachment techniques that have been developed during the last few years at the NASA centers for use in the space program. A detailed description is first given of the successive development of ECG electrodes, starting from their original simple form, that eventually resulted in the novel technology of spray-on electrodes. Finally, features of a new telemetering system under development, which is suitable for the recovery of ECG, respiration, body core temperature, and surface temperature, are outlined.

Apparatus enables automatic microanalysis of body fluids

Apparatus will automatically and quantitatively determine body fluid constituents which are amenable to analysis by fluorometry or colorimetry. The results of the tests are displayed as percentages of full scale deflection on a strip-chart recorder. The apparatus can also be adapted for microanalysis of various other fluids.
