Analysis of wind profile temporal variability
The modulus of the maximum wind change is used here to assess wind change at the Shuttle launch site at Kennedy Space Center. Empirical and theoretical distributions of the maximum wind change are presented, and the effect of wind profile smoothing on wind change distributions is analyzed. The capability of wind profile systems to measure extreme wind change is described.
