Planetary Boundary Layer Height from Raman Lidar and AERI retrieved temperature and water vapor profiles using the Heffter method.
The Atmospheric Radiation Measurement Program developed a value added product that could run autonomously to determine planetary boundary height using radiosondes. This product has produced data for 117 unique sites and facilities for more than 10 years. The initial software was released around 2013 and data has been produced since 2001 for some sites.
This script is used to read the infinitely growing data files created by a Campbell Data Logger to extract hourly data and write the content to hourly output files.
Aerosol and water vapor profiles acquired by the Raman lidar instrument located at the Climate Research Facility (CRF) at Southern Great Plains (SGP) provide data necessary to investigate the atmospheric variability in the vicinity of clouds near the top of the planetary boundary layer (PBL). Recent CARL upgrades and modifications to the routine processing algorithms afforded the necessarily high temporal and vertical data resolutions for these investigations. CARL measurements are used to investigate the behavior of aerosol backscattering and extinction and their correlation with water vapor and relative humidity.
