Tool locally expands small-diameter tubes. Tube expander locally expands and deforms tube: Compressive lateral stress induced in elastomeric sleeve by squeezing axially between two metal tool parts. Adaptable to situations in which tube must have small bulge for mechanical support or flow control.
Three electron-beam welds and a spacer are used to replace a single deep electron-beam weld. Technique would reduce power required for welding making it possible to use low-power sources.
Tool drills small hole perpendicular to and at bottom of blind hole. It consists of carbide cutter brazed to flexible shaft, inside thin metal tube with 90 degree bend. Wood dowel holds tube while motor turns shaft and drives cutter. It was developed for clearing plugged fuel orifices. Concept is adaptable to other hard-to-reach drilling situations.
Snap ring with slotted tabs fits groove in shaft. Sleeve to be held on shaft fits over snap ring keeping it from expanding. Tabs are bent out to keep sleeve from slipping off shaft.
Simple tool based on principle of automobile oil wrench slips over cylindrical thread-on baffle to install or remove it from baffle assembly. Tool consists of curled metal sheet brazed onto handgrip. Handgrip is adapted to be driven by wrench, ratchet, extension, torque wrench, or some other convenient tool. Clockwise twist of handgrip, tightens metal sheet around baffle to advance it into threaded joint. Counterclockwise twist loosens sheet for repositioning or tool removal.
