CaloTrilogy: Toward a Breakthrough in One-Step, End-to-End, Physics-Guided Shower Generation for Modern Calorimeters

High-precision calorimeter simulation at current and future colliders imposes rapidly growing computational demands, motivating the development of machine-learning surrogates for traditional Monte Carlo tools such as Geant4. Flow matching and diffusion-based generative models have become leading approaches for high-dimensional fast simulation because of their sample quality, but typically require ${\cal O}(100)$ function evaluations at inference and often rely on auxiliary networks to constrain global observables, compromising streamlined end-to-end generation. We introduce a unified framework that improves the balance between speed, shower quality, and physics fidelity. The method combines: (i) an average velocity field integrator that enables sampling in one or a few evaluations; (ii) a learned generative prior in shower space, constructed from data rather than random noise; and (iii) physics-guided loss terms that impose inductive biases on key observables during training. These elements are training time regularizers, preserving end-to-end inference with no additional cost. With only one or a few evaluation steps, the model achieves shower quality competitive with state-of-the-art flow and diffusion approaches, tested on several public high granularity calorimeter datasets. The results demonstrate inter-layer shower structure consistent with the underlying physics, providing a strong candidate for future fast simulation workflows.

Dark QCD: the Next Frontier in Dark Matter

There has been a surge of interest in hidden valley models with new, strong forces, sometimes called "dark QCD". These models propose asymmetric, composite dark matter in the form of "dark hadrons" that would evade direct and indirect bounds as well as typical collider DM searches for large missing transverse momentum accompanied by radiation. However, evidence of these models can still be found in collider datasets by targeting their unique phenomenological signatures, which include semivisible jets, emerging jets, and soft unclustered energy patterns. We will present the latest experimental results for these signatures and discuss the significant strides in exploring the vast space of dark QCD models. We will further discuss the prospects for dramatic expansions in sensitivity via machine learning.

R&D Adoption and Progress in Full Simulation of the CMS experiment

In this work we report on evolution of usage of Geant4 within CMSSW and adaptation of the newest Geant4 11.2.1, which is expected to be used for CMS simulation production in 2025. Physics validation results and results on CPU performance are reported. For the Phase-2 simulation several R&D are carried out. A significant update for CMS geometry description is performed. Different aspects of geometry description and physics simulation for the new detectors will be discussed. Progress on R&D efforts for the Phase-2 simulation will be presented, which includes reports on experience of application of G4HepEm external library.
