Program Tracks Cost Of Travel

Travel Forecaster is menu-driven, easy-to-use computer program that plans, forecasts cost, and tracks actual vs. planned cost of business-related travel of division or branch of organization and compiles information into data base to aid travel planner. Ability of program to handle multiple trip entries makes it valuable time-saving device.

Managing Information On Technical Requirements

Technical Requirements Analysis and Control Systems/Initial Operating Capability (TRACS/IOC) computer program provides supplemental software tools for analysis, control, and interchange of project requirements so qualified project members have access to pertinent project information, even if in different locations. Enables users to analyze and control requirements, serves as focal point for project requirements, and integrates system supporting efficient and consistent operations. TRACS/IOC is HyperCard stack for use on Macintosh computers running HyperCard 1.2 or later and Oracle 1.2 or later.

A conceptual design study for the EOS Lidar Atmospheric Sounder and Altimeter facility

A preliminary design study is presented for the Lidar Atmospheric Sounder and Altimeter (LASA), an active remote sensor for the Earth Observing System. LASA is designed to measure the global vertical distributions of aerosols, cloud top heights, atmospheric trace gases, atmospheric temperature and pressure, and the height of the PBL. The measurements are made using optical radar, differential absorption lidar, and laser altimetry. An experiment proposed for the LASA facility, the EOS Atmospheric Global Lidar Experiment (EAGLE) is described in detail. The EAGLE program is planned to determine aerosol and cloud distributions, water vapor concentrations, and temperature profiles over the troposphere and aerosol distribution over the stratosphere. The measurement techniques, receiver system, and transmitter for the EAGLE program are examined and the conceptual design of the EAGLE experiment and the LASA/EAGLE interface is outlined.

Instrument systems for the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite

The NASA Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite program for improving both methods needed to maintain the physical and chemical integrity of the upper atmosphere and techniques for the early detection of harmful changes in the ozone layer is discussed. Through satellite measurements, theoretical studies, and model analyses, the program will provide integrated global measurements of the chemistry, dynamics, and energetics of the stratosphere, mesosphere, and lower thermosphere. The 10 state-of-the-art instrument systems employed in the program are described, including the solar UV spectral irradiance monitor, the particle environment monitor, the cryogenic limb array etalon spectrometer, the wind imaging interferometer, and the active cavity radiometer irradiance monitor.
