Infrared Focal Plane Assemblies for an All-Sky Spectral Survey

This work presents three large-format 2048 x 2048 pixel arrays integrated into passively cooled assemblies able to image in the short and medium-wave infrared range. Continuous spectral selectivity is achieved by means of linear variable filters mounted above the detector arrays.

Far-infrared room-temperature focal plane modules for polar radiant energy in the Far InfraRed experiment

This work presents focal plane modules for Polar Radiant Energy in the Far InfraRed Experiment, a passive remote-sensing instrument aimed to determine errors in the estimated outgoing longwave radiation in the Earth’s polar regions to reduce uncertainties in surface emissivity, mass balance, and ice flux. The focal plane arrays are micromachined at JPL and integrated into sub-assembly modules to be mounted on the optical telescope of the instrument.

Far-Infrared Remote-Sensing Enabled by Room-Temperature Thermopile Imagers

This work presents a large-format thermopile focal plane module based on kilo-pixel arrays able to image from UV to far-infrared scenes. The spectral selectivity is achieved by means of butcher block filters integrated into sub-assembly modules as part of the optical telescope of the instrument.

Kilo-Pixel Miniaturized Thermal Imagers based on Advanced Thermoelectrics

This work presents a novel focal plane module architecture based on kilo-pixel arrays able to image from UV to far-infrared scenes. The focal plane arrays are integrated with custom-made, chopper-stabilized read-out integrated circuits into sub-assembly modules to be mounted on the optical telescope of the instrument.

Far-Infrared Room-Temperature Focal Plane Modules for Radiation Budget Instrument

This work presents focal plane modules for a Radiation Budget Instrument, a passive remote-sensing instrument that follows the legacy of the Clouds and Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES) to measure short and longwave Earth’s radiation budget. The focal plane arrays are micromachined at JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) and integrated into sub-assembly modules to be mounted on the optical telescope of the instrument.
