Dynamics and Control of Quadcopter in Uncertain Environment

We consider problem of dynamics, control, and uncertainty quantification for quadcopter. We use the 6DOF model of quadcopter dynamics, linear quadratic regulator and linear quadratic Gaussian control of quadcopter in the presence of dynamical disturbances, measurement noise, hidden dynamical variables, dashing GPS signal, and wind gusts to predict quadcopter trajectory. We identify key sources of uncertainties and report on progress in development of a system that estimates the probability of safety-critical events using a set of algorithms based on the trajectory predictions.

Physics Based Model for Cryogenic Chilldown and Loading. Part III: Correlations

In this report we discuss the details of the correlations used to recognize flow patterns and predict frictional losses, heat and mass transfer in the cryogenic two phase flow. The emphasis are put on the formulation of the correlation problem in terms of concise parametric and functional spaces allowing for efficient online search of the model parameters and accurate prediction of the phenomena observed during cryogenic loading. A special attention is paid to the discussion of the correlation dependence on the gravity. In this context the physics of stability, friction, and boiling in the two-phase flow that underlies the required correlations is discussed.

Physics Based Model for Cryogenic Chilldown and Loading. Part IV: Code Structure

This is the fourth report in a series of technical reports that describe separated two-phase flow model application to the cryogenic loading operation. In this report we present the structure of the code. The code consists of five major modules: (1) geometry module; (2) solver; (3) material properties; (4) correlations; and finally (5) stability control module. The two key modules - solver and correlations - are further divided into a number of submodules. Most of the physics and knowledge databases related to the properties of cryogenic two-phase flow are included into the cryogenic correlations module. The functional form of those correlations is not well established and is a subject of extensive research. Multiple parametric forms for various correlations are currently available. Some of them are included into correlations module as will be described in details in a separate technical report. Here we describe the overall structure of the code and focus on the details of the solver and stability control modules.
