UREY, a proposed NASA Mars Scout mission will, for the first time, measure the absolute age of an identified igneous rock formation on Mars. By extension to relatively older and younger rock formations dated by remote sensing, these results will enable a new and better understanding of Martian geologic history.
The Milton pallasite was found in Missouri, U.S.A. in October, 2000. It consists of a single stone that originally weighed approximately 2040 g. The chemistry of the olivine and metal phases, plus the oxygen isotope ratios of the olivines, differ significantly from other pallasites, making Milton unique. Unfortunately, the meteorite is heavily fractured and weathered.

An Engineering-of-Failure approach to designing and executing an accelerated product qualification test was performed to support a risk assessment of a work-around necessitated by an on-orbit failure of another piece of hardware on the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft.
NASA's Code QE Test Effectiveness Program is funding a series of applied research activities focused on utilizing the principles of physics and engineering of failure along with those of engineering economics to assess and improve the value added by various validation and verification activities, with the primary emphasis being on testing.

Data sources systems and tools shall be developed and implemented that: 1) provide improved preventions, controls, analyses and tests (PACT) & field failure data collection, 2) facilities data analysis, archiving, retrieval, failure physics and/or root cause evaluations and 3) enable new and existing technology suitability evaluations to be performed.
